Friends of  Colin,

Colin Portnuff passed away peacefully at 6:35pm this evening, due to complications from ALS.  Though his passing was somewhat sudden, Colin was surrounded by his family and close friends at the time of his death.  A memorial service will be held soon, with a tentative date being February 19, in Portland, Oregon.

A great mind, a wonderful man anonymous February 12 2007, 13:56:39 UTC
I wanted to add to what will likely be an incredible number of people touched by Colin's life. I met him only once, during the CSUN convention last year. We had corresponded a number of times, and I was struck by his honesty and openness about ALS, and the future he knew awaited.

His faith was an inspiration to me - I'll miss his spirit.

I barely knew Colin - just through comments on jisalynn's blog - but he was always very sweet and with a great sense of humor. I'll miss his presence, so can only imagine how all those who truly knew him feel. My condolences on your loss. His friends and family will be in my thoughts. May God's love be with you all.

I HATE disease! I hate it because it takes people away from us prematurely.

It just seemed that Colin, with his gentle wisdom and demeanor, would always be around, even though deep down we knew that would not be the case. Even though I never met Colin, except through ACOLUG, I feel a great sadness and emptiness at the news of his passing. May his precious soul rest in peace. God give comfort and strength to his family.

I only knew of Colin through my friend jeniferrobin but would check in on him from time to time to see how things were going for him; I am glad he no longer has to wrestle with the physical ailments and is at peace, though this news leaves me incredibly sad. I wish to express my deepest condolences to your family during this sad time for all of us.
