Friends of  Colin,

Colin Portnuff passed away peacefully at 6:35pm this evening, due to complications from ALS.  Though his passing was somewhat sudden, Colin was surrounded by his family and close friends at the time of his death.  A memorial service will be held soon, with a tentative date being February 19, in Portland, Oregon.

Good god... I am deeply sad as well. I had the impression he would keep going just like the Energizer Rabbit.

I originally met him at the Telecommunications Devices Access Program Advisory Committee. Hence my original impression.

By now, you know he contributed a lot to the TDAP - the speech generating devices and research thereof will be his legacy.

I am honoured that I had Colin as an online friend for as long as I did. He helped me with some tough things, and reminded me to laugh... always good advice.

I will miss him, and his comments in my journal.

I will always be grateful for how good a friend he was to my daughter and to me. His insights were always illuminating. The world is a darker place now, but Heaven has a shining new star. It gives me peace knowing that he will be there to give Em her first ever walking tour, of God's beautiful kingdom.
I am so sorry about your loss. We will keep your family in our prayers.
Much love,
Anna and Emmy

passing of our dear friend anonymous February 13 2007, 17:09:51 UTC
I first met Colin last year through ACOLUG and then face-to-face at CSUN in Los Angeles. During the past year I have collaborated with him, listened with humility and respect to his words of wisdom, jointly published his booklet on tube feeding, and proudly awarded him the ACES Free Speech Now Award.

I will deeply miss him.

Grateful for knowing him,

Diane N. Bryen

Cory,

Your Dad was inspiration to me and many other people on ACOLUG. Your Dad had a gift for writing. I know that you and your Family are proud of him.
