Prompt/Request: Neal with an abusive past

Characters: Neal, anyone

I would Like: A story in which Neal experienced some abuse in his past, either by a relative or someone he worked with. What I would really like is a story in which Neal went to New York to escape someone he was working with that was hurting him (bad enough to break a bone or two), and that someone shows up years later while Neal is working with Peter. I would like Neal to be afraid of this person, but eventually standing up to him. And, of course, comfort.

I Don't Want: Neal's parents to be the abusive ones. For the abuse to be extreme torture (Ex. Neal tied to a bed, molested, then whipped, then molested, then tossed into a closet, then strung up and beaten almost to death...)
