I tried to read that series when it first came out, due to loyalty to the author. (I really liked her series とらわれの身の上 [Toraware no Mi no Ue].) After reading one volume, I just couldn't stomach it. I find that most vampire stories are constructed to appeal to an audience that has different tastes from mine.

I... yeah... I dunno. I liked MP and Wanted (& the series you mentioned is all in my backlog), but I hiatused Vampire Knight after about volume 4, or whatever point it was at when the magazine folded. I've been picking up the GNs since but haven't kept up with the reading. I was having a hard time reading in the magazine though, too; first because I wanted more (in the good way) than we got in short monthly chapters - the angst! drama! what is going to happen? the lovely art! - but then because I wanted more (in a bad way?) than we were getting in monthly chapters - there was not enough was happening, it felt drawn out, it was boring etc. Everyone loved it though, so I thought it might have better life in reading big chunks at a time. That was a fun idea back in 2003, but with my backlog now, it's little more than a death sentence. :/

I did watch the first season of the anime though... 2nd season still backlogged. Yeah... I WANT to like it, but I guess I haven't been in the mood for ages. So pretty, though.

You know, I was thinking I didn't have an answer for this, but last night I happened to see my Utena poster and remembered Utena's uniform from the movie--her regular uniform, not the duel one. (Youtube link, since I can't find a good picture of it online.) I love the black/white/pink color combination anyway, and the cap just really sets it off for me. What's better than a girl wearing a gakuran? :D
