As far as weaponry goes, I’ve always been a huge fan of modified guns/bows and huge, flashy things that would be utterly unwieldable in real life. Despite their prevalence in video games, I’ve found less of the former in anime, but the latter is certainly represented in spades. After all, anime is limited by the imagination, not the laws of

I'm having a hard time coming up with anything to equal those.
Sanji's feet? XD Or maybe Ahiru's ballet shoes? Heehee! ;)
Gotta love a big sword, yup! Ahem.

The first one that came to mind was Sanosuke's sword from Rurouni Kenshin, but I don't actually like it, it's just very memorable.
Next I thought about all the interesting weapons from Hunter × Hunter: Hisoka's cards...Kurapika's chains...Gon's fishing rod...but none of them really clicked for me.
I decided that the runner up should be Tasuki's tessen. It's so dramatic, and it suits him very well.
The winner for me is Yuuhi's cooking chopsticks from Ayashi no Ceres. I remember when I first saw him use them, and I thought it was an incredibly clever idea for a weapon. He was my favorite character in that awful series, and I liked that his weapon was really an instrument of caretaking. It shows his nurturing personality.

If you're talking about what I think you are...yeah, it was there.
Aside from Yuuhi, the one thing I liked about the anime is that it showed them going to Niigata in winter, and you get to see the crazy hot water jets that come up in the streets to melt the snow. (That was where I lived for two years, so I was really tickled to see it.)

So you hate Death Note? How come? No judgement, just asking. ;)

I would be lying if I said that a chunk of my reason for hating Death Note wasn't The Thing That Happens. Especially because it seemed out of character for the victim and because they were teasing the fangirls intensely leading up to it. (The handcuffs? Seriously?) But mostly I dislike Death Note because the only moral compass in the story is Light's father and I spent every episode fearing he would die or be disgraced.

I'd still like to hear your choice (even if something silly from KKM!) if you've got one, but I know you probably won't post one now. :P But thanks for your thoughts on Death Note! I find it interesting (because it is different from me) how your like/dislike of a story often hinges on your feelings about a particular event within, rather than the narrative as a whole. That trait is part of why I think others are more articulate at discussing their feelings about a book/series/etc than I am, because I rarely can pinpoint a specific reason that determines my judgement.

I could cheat I guess, and just name my favorite Luffy move, or some of the other cool moves from One Piece, but that feels a little like cheating, especially since, while weapons like the Black Sword and Wado Ichimonji are cool, the people who wield them overshadow them in coolness by a lot^^
So, weapons that are plenty awesome on their own:
Gene Starwind's Caster Gun from Outlaw Star
Several of the Zanpakuto from Bleach, especially Benihime, Senbonzakura, Hyorinmaru, and Soda no Shirayuki.
All of the guns from Hellsing
I think the winner though, at least for most intriguing idea, is Nocturne #12 from Tegami Bachi - I just think the idea of the weapons in that series are really interesting.

Twins! :D Thanks for your reply, because Letter Bee has been floating around my radar for a while but I haven't started it. I flipped thru the first volume of manga when it came out (but didn't buy it because I need to cut back the number of new series starting at the same time) and someone whose opinion I value likes the series a lot in both forms; now I am interested in knowing more about the weaponry ideas you speak of. This will remind me that it's on my list to check it out if I get the opportunity/time. :)

Since I've been watching Hunter x Hunter, I was going to say Kurapica's chains, but your answer reminded me that weapons don't have to be so traditional (not the Kurapica's weapon is at all traditional), so instead I'll go with Yomiko's use of paper in Read or Die. Because how awesome is it that she can kick ass with paper?
