Day 28

So, I came up with this question because the best serial shows really give thought to character development and I was hoping people would think seriously about those moments that really struck them as significant and/or that have stuck with them over time.  Even if you aren't the type to re-visit a series a lot, there's a reason you're a fan of a ( Read more... )

[insert One Piece spoiler here]

...Sorry, I know you wanted to have discussions about this and stuff, so I actually tried thinking of a non-OP example, but I am not at all analytical about this sort of thing, so though I am very character-oriented, I really can't think of any other examples of specific moments like that. The closest thing I came up with was Fakir being nice to Ahiru in duck form, but I feel like that's not so much character development as us seeing something that had been hidden from us due to POV perspective. :/

"I was a little resigned to the fact that this might be a very spoilery entry," she said in a tiny voice.

If you don't want to explain the details, you could say the rough scenario in OP that you're thinking of, or the chapter/episode/who it involves, so that when I get there... um.. or whatever, I can think back and say, oh, this part! I am not as spoiled by things until people name it as a spoiler.

In that case, I will just say: Nico Robin, and why she...does something. I think you'll know when you get there.

I'm finding this one really hard to answer, because things that stick with me as "significant and/or memorable" generally don't have anything at all to do with character development.

As an example, anytime I think of the series Earthian, the one scene that springs to mind is when Chihaya and Kagetsuya are in bed making out, when suddenly Chihaya says he's not in the mood, so Kagetsuya has to go and take a cold shower. That's not character development...but it is certainly memorable in that "AAARGH SO CLOSE" kind of way.

The closest I can come, after giving it a lot of thought, is the scene in Fruits Basket where Kyou turns into his "other" form, and Tooru accepts him anyway.

I think that counts pretty well; it certainly changed how Kyo felt, gave him confidence, etc. I wouldn't have expected otherwise from Tohru, though, but it definitely works for me for Kyo. :)
