It's Time for a Change..

You Need to Read These Words...

That is, you need to read them if you care about the future entries of my journal. Which is somewhat a self important assumption that you do, but I'd hope you'd want to adjust to the changes I've made. :) So, for all of you out there who actually read what I fill this electronic void with, and for those of you who ( Read more... )

Wow... normally when i see entries that posses such a long length as your does here, I do not read them but skim. Well, I actually read the whole thing. My brain feels so invigorated at the moment. I love reading your entires cause the vocab, grammar, and ideas are presented in a very talented way. I receive enjoyment and am very intrigued at what comes next and that keeps me reading. I believe that's the key to being a successful writer, and may I say that God has blessed you with a gift...

hahaha. thanks you two! and thanks for your honesty, Steve, I probably wouldnt want to read my horrendously long-winded novels on any given day either. :) but I do thank you guys so much for your uplifting words and encouragments! You two are definitely too generous. But I mean, writing is what I want to do, and if I can do it for the Lord, and succeed for His glory, then that's all I could really ever want. He's definitly the Master from whom I've borrowed my talents. (and yeah Steve, you're not so bad with the grammar and the vocab yourself, word-buddy!) And yeah Jenners, let's fight those liberal ideologies into the dirt! haha. Maybe we can use some of Joey's 1st England missions trip footage of the ranks of people with the bibles held high walking through the ally as our logo or something. haha awesome verse, sweety. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels like she wants to flip some tables.. (even though my 'righteous' anger could never compare to the purity of Christ's!) haha but yeah, I love you both! thanks for reading the ( ... )

You go, girl :-P! startingover404 December 7 2005, 21:50:18 UTC
Ah Lydia, awesome post! It is quite sad how PC people are 'trying' to be with the whole Merry Christmas thing. If you take out the Christ in Christmas, so many other traditions would cease to exist, including the ones most Americans hold SO dear to their hearts, Mr. Santa Claus himself...

Though the beautiful red-suit-wearing fat man is now a symbol for America's economic excess, he is still rooted in the history of St. Nicholas... yes, a Saint...

As silly as this may sound, Christmas holds SO much more significance as a "holiday" than Hanukkah ever would... though Festivus has a chance to :-P (little Fran joke your way :-P)...

It's just silly that people want to be PC about Christ and everyone around, I mean I rather worship the birth of my Savior than bet gold coins (which... isn't gambling a sin?)...

There's more I can say but my mind isn't ticking right... maybe it's b/c of upcoming Finals :-P...

haha Brent, you are the best! I'm so glad you also recognize what's going on and that you see how rapidly the moral in this conuntry has been subjected to decay. It's so frustrating to deal with all this political correction, or PC, around Christmas, and every december it gets worse. I just wish they could all see that the very fact that this irritates them so much, that it gets under their skin and compels them to write opinion article after opinion article, just proves that this Jewish man from 2000 years ago is still able to jar their nerves. and yet they dont stop and wonder WHY?! This nation needs prayer, and more now than ever when we face the evaporation of our national recognition as not only a religion, but the FOUNDING one at that. Oi. God bless Brent and have an AWESOME CHRISTmas! (We should adjust the pronounciation to that just to annoy people even more!)

Wait, so what does Christmas have to do with Jesus? I thought those Christians celebrated the day thats NOT named after Him. The spirit of Christmas is obviously about grossly perverted selfish intentions and driving credit card debts up. Come on, get your holidays right. Haha, im sorry, that was a little too sarcastic, but I totally agree with you. If people have such a problem with our holiday, they dont have to celebrate it. I have an idea, what if manorahs made me feel slightly alienated? (not that they do) but, no one would dream of secularizing a manorah. Political corectness is such a bizarre a twisted way of thinking. Anyway, I told you that Targum really was Latin for stupid.

My article anonymous September 3 2006, 18:40:58 UTC
I google myself to see what people write about me, and so let me respond to you:

-I didn't drop Ayn Rand's name to make my argument look stronger; I used her as an example of somone who argues AGAINST the idea of America as a Christian nation and screw up. But for the record, reading a thinker's smallest and least complex novel doesn't give you leverage when you decide to characterize it as this or that.
-My article was a response to another article, and the point was to drill point out the lack of critical thinking in that article.
-I'm sorry for oppressing you by attacking poorly-justified universalist assumptions that are a staple element of the Christian Right.
-In describing the Conservative Christian movement, "irritating" isn't the word. An itch on the top of my back where I can scratch it is irritating. No...this makes me think of Nietzsche's question of whether 'God is a blunder or man' or 'man is a blunder of God.'

Best,
Scott Lichtenstein
