You Need to Read These Words...
That is, you need to read them if you care about the future entries of my journal. -I didn't drop Ayn Rand's name to make my argument look stronger; I used her as an example of somone who argues AGAINST the idea of America as a Christian nation and screw up. But for the record, reading a thinker's smallest and least complex novel doesn't give you leverage when you decide to characterize it as this or that.

-I'm sorry for oppressing you by attacking poorly-justified universalist assumptions that are a staple element of the Christian Right.
-In describing the Conservative Christian movement, "irritating" isn't the word. An itch on the top of my back where I can scratch it is irritating. No...this makes me think of Nietzsche's question of whether 'God is a blunder or man' or 'man is a blunder of God.'
Best,
Scott Lichtenstein
