SPX 2009 and the Sixth-Grade Sugar Babies to Follow

Oct 01, 2009 14:53

The internet is a broken record and right now that record is that hit single "SPX WAS THE BEST EVER!" performed by like 2,000 completely amazing people. Marianne and I helped design the cover art, which is a good chunk of that crowd who bought ridiculous beards from us. Men, women, small babies alike. Actually no, not true. Babies didn't get beards ( Read more... )

This looks so awesome, those beards are a flurry of furry delight. And I remember reading that Sugar Babies book back in the day. I could never work out how old kids were in American books with the grade system.

What I've never figured out is how on earth did I grow up with those horrible book covers and not realize they were horrible book covers? Why were they all hyper realistic oil paintings with bad compositions?! (ie creepy boy in the background!) I cropped it down to make it less painful but it had a white border on the right and top as well...and the line "Mom for a week!" at the bottom. Poor Eve Bunting!

Most definitely! We're going to get rid of the few typos as well...though I feel like I should print yours before we get rid of them. I think you of all people will appreciate them...or you know, just like me, not even notice them!

This is why it helps to have professional editor type friends...even if you should have went to them before you gave it to 75 people, but still!

I might make an insistence that you have to come to NY to pick up the book. When are you and Chris coming to visit?!

Such a beautiful, plump, fully-packed con report! I think the photographic evidence suggests that I did not beat you in a feat of strength, but rather deviously cheated by making you reach across more than half of the table. REMATCH! I'm sure you will take me down.

It was a pleasure hanging out with you and Marianne over the weekend! Thank you! :)

I think Marianne photoshopped the pictures to make it look less fair. As my coach and manager I can't blame her. I mean what will it look like in the professional trucker/arm-wrestler circuit if I got beat by a non-trucker? But yes I agree to a rematch as long as there is, once again, good food at the end of it! Um...how did we even wind up armwrestling anyway?

We seriously need to hang out more in our own city. I don't lie when I say you guys are some of my favorite people. I'm really happy I've gotten to know you more the last few months!

Coming from the guy who goes on more exploring adventures than anyone else I know, that means a lot!

Wow, what a fully-packed report! It was so good to meet you this year, and I am still upset that we had not met sooner so I could perhaps have taken part in the Lumberjack book.

The next time I come up with a silly idea for a collection you can be sure I'll come knocking at your internet door! We might expand the Lumberjack Book too and will totally let you know.

I'm so glad we met this year as well! That Darryl has good taste in friends!

Can I just say I am so happy you do Typo Friday. I'm kinda giddy to see the next one. It's technically Friday now! Wooo! *stares at screen..waits...refreshes...waits...*
