I'm more sober this morning than I was last night, so I can probably comment on this more coherently.

When a friend mentions that they have nothing going on the next day, it certainly could mean that he wants to fill that void. It could also mean, "Woah, dude, I've been running around town every bloody evening this week. It'll be good to have some downtime." If it's the latter, the chances of him just wanting to stay home and take care of things he thinks he's been neglecting are pretty good, too. Which is it? He might not even know until the prospect of driving around town for yet one more day rears its head.

As far as feeling lonely in a room full of people, yeah, I'm used to it. It happens. I'm used to it.

Yeah, and sometimes they mention that they have nothing going no the next day because they know how badly you need friend time and they're letting you know they'd have time for you. I must have misinterpreted. Sorry.
