Jensen Ackles walks into Nourish for the fourth time in five days and Jared Padalecki is scared out of his mind. Jensen Ackles might be one of the, if not the, hottest guys Jared’s laid his eyes on. But his wit is sharp edged and cutting and his restaurant reviews have brought grown men to tears. He’s one of the toughest restaurant critics to please, even though he’s usually right.

Jared is proud of his restaurant and his food, but it’s no wonder he’s been extra careful every time he sees Ackles walk into his restaurant. He’s afraid of what a multiple sighting of the man at his establishment means. Jared has introduced himself, like he does to all the other patrons, and Ackles seems nice enough, if a little reserved. Jared knows never to judge a book by its cover, though, and that a shark hides behind that quiet exterior.

“Look, boss, he’s back,” his sous-chef Matt Bomer says, standing next to Jared and surreptitiously glancing at Ackles who is perusing his menu for the next meal to take a stab at - both literally and figuratively.

“I’ve noticed,” Jared says dryly. Matt’s tone is more teasing than anything; he knows exactly how Jared feels about the guy they’re spying on - a peculiar mixture of lust and fear.

“You gonna go charm his pants off?” Aldis Hodge asks, still an apprentice in the kitchen that’s working out perfectly. He started off as just a kitchen assistant, but became really interested in the entire cooking process and wanted to know more. Aldis comes up on Jared’s other side and joins in on the watching.

“Can I watch?” Danneel Harris and station chef pipes up from behind them.

“Shut up, all of you,” Jared says petulantly and with a slight flush. Although he loves his coworkers and friends, he can deal without their commentary right now. He’s lucky they’re all so comfortable with each other, though. Years of working together are bound to forge a connection.

“Don’t you lot have food to prepare?”

All three of them snicker as Jared leaves the kitchen to go mingle with the guests as he periodically does throughout the night, and he shakes his head at his friends’ antics. Jared’s glad he trusts Matt, Aldis, and Danneel enough to not mess up the food.

“Welcome back to Nourish, Mr. Ackles,” Jared says when he reaches Jensen’s table after walking around and talking to all the other customers. He knows most of the people here, but there were some new faces and he loves this aspect of his job as much as the cooking part. Ackles looks up from where he’s looking intently at his plate of food.

“Jensen, please, Mr. Padalecki,” he says softly, a curious dull red suffusing his cheeks. Jared can admit to himself that he’s half in love with the guys’ voice, deep without being fake and downright sexy. Jared’s imagined filthy words dripping from the guy’s tongue in his late night fantasies and that’s just based on Jensen’s voice alone. Jared stares at the flush with interest, instantly enamored with it and wanting to know just how far it reaches.

“Jared,” he says. “I hope we’ve gotten to the stage of going by first names by this point.”

“Jared,” Jensen repeats, looking right at him.

Jared’s caught by the gold-green gaze and finds it hard to look away. Jensen is ridiculously gorgeous and if it were anyone else coming into the restaurant so much, and alone every time, Jared would be flattered. With Jensen though, he’s just worried.

“Everything okay with your meal tonight, Jensen?” The last word comes out a little huskier than intended, but that pretty blush makes an appearance again. Interesting.

“Yeah, it’s perfect,” Jensen replies, biting his lip afterward. Jared’s gaze zeroes in on perfect white teeth and plush pink lips. He looks back up guiltily into Jensen’s eyes and sees them widen just a little.

“Perfect, huh?” Jared asks, voice going a little deeper and almost drawling the two words out.

Jensen nods silently.

“Is that what you’re going to write?” Jared curses himself as soon as the words are out. He really didn’t want a reminder of Jensen being one of the paper’s toughest critics. Jensen surprises him however.

“Maybe.”

Jared’s not quite sure what to say. He thinks (hopes) Jensen is flirting, but he doesn’t want to risk getting involved and then have a bashing article printed to make the pain even worse.

“Anyway, you can let me know in advance if I’m going to need tissues handy for when I read the review?” Jared asks with a wry grin.

Jensen looks down at that and mumbles something indistinct.

“Huh?” Jared asks eloquently. “Didn’t quite catch that.”

Jensen doesn’t look up, but he does speak a little clearer so Jared can actually understand.

“I’m not rating your place. It would be a conflict of interest.”
“And why would that be?” Jared asks, kind of confused.

Jensen huffs up and looks up, right at Jared. “Because I like you.” The duh isn’t stated, but Jared can hear it nonetheless.

“Wait, what?”

“God, I’m sorry. I just came in that first night after hearing good things about your place and saw you mingling with someone and laughing and your stupid floppy hair was in your eyes and adorable dimples deepened and it got me all twisted up and turned around inside. But I couldn’t not come, even if I’m not writing the article because I still wanted to see you and yeah. I’m so sorry and I’ll just leave now,” Jensen finishes, starting to get up.

Jared stares for a second, taking in the continuous ramble of words before the last sentence hits him.

“What? No, don’t leave. Especially not after dropping a bomb like that!” Jared says, holding his palms out to stop Jensen if he makes a run for it.

Jensen hovers quietly, half out of his chair and one hand reaching for what seems like his wallet.

“So wait, I’ve been worried for a week for no reason?” Jared asks, not really meaning for those words to tumble out. He inwardly curses his brain to mouth filter. Or the lack of it at least.

“Well, I mean, not exactly? Someone else will be doing the review, but personally I really do like this place,” Jensen says.

“And is that partly because you think I’m hot?” Jared teases with a smug grin. Jensen blushes again.

“Shut up. I really shouldn’t have told you anything.”

“Oh you really should have. I’ll let you in on a secret,” Jared says, leaning in so he can whisper in Jensen’s ear. “I haven’t been able to look away from you every time you come in. It’s a wonder I haven’t ruined my orders and I’m just lucky to have Matt helping me out.”

“Matt?” Jensen asks, a bit breathlessly.

“One of my best friends,” Jared responds. “He’s been watching my back in the kitchen to make sure I don’t screw up every time you’re in here. I can’t concentrate with you sitting there with your gorgeous self mere feet away.”

It’s Jared’s turn to blush as he pulls away, especially after admitting everything he’s been feeling too.

Jensen smiles brilliant and wide then, and if Jared thought he was hot before, it’s nothing compared to now.

“Want a tour of the back room?” Jared asks, barely hesitating and really wanting those lips against his own as soon as possible.

Jensen’s eyes light up and then go a little dark. Jared’s fascinated with the change and vows to make them go even darker as often as possible.

“Why Mr. Padalecki, are you propositioning me?” It’s Jensen’s turn to drawl, the southerner in him coming though. Jared may have researched Jensen and found out that he’s from Texas as well. And those fantasies may or may not have involved some dirty talk in husky Texas twang.

“Oh yes, Mr. Ackles, I certainly am,” Jared replies, laying the accent on thickly. Jensen smiles again, slow and sure.

“I’d love a tour, Jared, but can you make it a rather quick one?”

Jared grabs Jensen’s hands and leads him towards the back of the restaurant to where the storage room and his office are, ignoring the whistles and catcalls coming from the kitchen as they quickly walk by. He’s going to kill the three of them. Later, though. Much later. After he’s learned every inch of Jensen’s mouth and body.

They finally reach his office, the trek seeming much longer than normal. They barely get inside the door before Jared is pushing Jensen against the wall, hesitating a fraction of an inch away from Jensen’s lips - just hovering. Hot breaths are panted against each other’s lips and Jared can smell the spicy herbs from Jensen’s meal.

Jensen reaches his hands up to tangle his fingers in Jared’s mop of hair and that’s the only go ahead Jared needs before he closes in that last gap and finally gets his mouth on the one that’s been in his dreams for countless days. The real kiss is so much better than what his fantasies had conjured up, soft plush lips moving perfectly against his own.

Jensen’s mouth opens just a little bit, enough for his tongue to dart out and tease Jared’s a little and Jared follows it with his own tongue into Jensen’s mouth. Their tongues glide against each other and flavor bursts across Jared’s tongue - the rich seasoning along with an undercurrent of Jensen that’s quickly become addicting. Jared almost caresses Jensen’s tongue lightly which draws out a soft whimper from the other man and Jared can’t wait to hear what other kind of sexy noises are in store for the future.

Jared presses in close against Jensen, hard bodies lining up perfectly. He lets his hands roam down Jensen, cataloging everything in his mind - just in case he doesn’t have the chance to later. He’s hopeful, though, and doesn’t want to think about what tomorrow will bring, content in the now.

They finally split apart, gasping for some much needed air, but still not moving away from each other.

“Wanna head to my place?” Jared asks, voice deep and dark.

“Hell yes,” Jensen responds, leaning in to kiss Jared again, more fervent this time.

Jared has never been more thankful that he lives close by his restaurant, and he tangles his fingers with Jensen’s as they walk the short distance to his place. Jensen looks over at him, first glancing at their joined hands, then at him, but doesn’t comment. That gorgeous flush just rises up again and Jared’s very hopeful now.

They get inside and clothes are thrown off in frenzy, wanting to get to the main event. Jensen’s pale tan skin is revealed with a smattering of freckles everywhere that Jared presses hot open-mouthed kisses to, Jensen moaning oh so gorgeously above him.

Jared’s trailing his lips across the soft skin, seeking all the spots that make Jensen cry out when the door slams open, Chad and Sophia stumbling drunkenly inside. Jensen freezes and so does Jared.

“Fuck,” both Chad and Jared say at once. They hadn’t quite made it to the bedroom yet, hoping the sofa would do for round one.

Sophia is looking appraisingly at the both of them and Jared looks down to see Jensen flushing bright red, brighter than he’s seen all night.

“Oh god, I’m so sorry, man. I didn’t know you’d be home,” Chad sputters, looking everywhere but at the two of them. Jared curses his roommate’s impeccable timing and himself for not getting them to his room fast enough. Jared pulls Jensen off the couch, covering him with his own body and waves Chad off.

“Nah, man, I’m sorry too. Should have gone to my room.”

Jared turns and pushes Jensen towards his room, not wanting to be in the awkward situation any longer. They tumble onto the bed, sitting up and leaning against each other. Jared can feel Jensen shaking next to him and he starts, a little worried. He realizes Jensen’s laughing, face hidden in his hands.

“Oh god, that was so embarrassing,” Jensen chokes out between chuckles.

“I’m so sorry Jensen, I had no idea he’d be home so soon,” Jared says, apologizing for breaking the mood as well.

“It’s okay, we can just go to my place next time,” Jensen says nonchalantly, like there’s no reason for there not to be a next time.

“Next time?” Jared asks hopefully.

Jensen looks up at him at that.

“Next time,” he states again, a little firmer and Jared grins widely at him before tackling him so he’s lying on top of Jensen and kissing him deeply and firmly. They might not get a little further than kissing tonight, but now that Jared knows there’s going to be a next time at the very least, he’s more than okay with that.
