So, Drive105 (the only station I could handle on the FM side) has changed their format: "We're bringing back the great music from the mid-'60s through the mid-'80s that isn't being played anywhere else," is all that ABC Radio staff offered in a statement Monday. Apparently they're not counting Cool 108. I think there's another one as well.

I blame this on suburbia. Suburbia is growing and they have no unique tastes when it comes to housing or other things, so why should music be any different? They probably want this change so they can curtail their children's listening habits.

And yeah, I'm only semi-serious about blaming this on suburbia.

Now that would actually be surprising, considering that the music Drive105 played would have been much of the music those suburban parents listened to when they were in high school and college (at least that's the course with my wife and me, and we're suburban, though not parents, but many our age are).

My bad, I meant the un-cool subrurbanites. Obviously I'm not talking about you and your wife. And yeah your dentist office comment is dead on.
