As Lucy and Tom exited the plane, Tom spotted Mark standing off to the side. Mark looked so...frail. He'd lost weight and looked pale. This had all been hard on him. He knew how much Mark cared about Roger, and he knew Mark was wondering if Roger was next. He walked up to Mark and hugged him briefly. "Hey man. You ok?" Mark nodded, but you could ( Read more... )

Lucy had the distinct feeling of wanting to hug the man in front of her. Either that or give him something to eat. She wasn't sure she had ever seen anyone look so sad before, not that he hadn't reason to.

When she was pulled forward, she just smiled instead. "Hullo. You must be Mark. It's very nice to meet you." The 'I wish under different circumstances' went unsaid, but it was obviously there.

Mark smiled and shook her hand. "It's nice to meet you too." Tom pulled Lucy close, needing the contact. He sighed and ran a hair through his non-exsistant hair, stopping to scratch the back of his neck.

"How is she Mark? And...Roger. How's he doing?" Tom had tears in his eyes already.

Mark shook his head. "It's...not good Tom. They asked Roger today if he was her husband. When he asked why it mattered...they told him that there may be some decisions to make soon. He didn't answer, he just walked out. That was around noon and I haven't seen him since."

Tom just nodded and felt the tears welling up.

Mark glaced at them for a minute and then led them to pick up their luggage.

Lucy noticed the tears and was grateful that Mark had started ahead of them, not that it would've stopped her if he hadn't. Turning, she wrapped her arms tightly around him, just holding him for a moment, before looking up at him. "You alright?" Obviously he wasn't, but that was the sort of thing one asked when one couldn't say for certain that everything was going to be alright.

Tom nodded, not trusting his voice, and wiped the tears away. He held her tight and kissed her forehead. Taking her hand, he walked over and started picking up their luggage.

Mark had seen the whole thing and smiled, despite the situation. It was good to know Collins had this girl, it would make this a bit easier for him.
