Kicking the door open to his apartment, he paused only long enough to lock it behind him, still holding Lucy in his arms. He walked straight back to their bedroom and laid her down, and then joined her, gathering her in his arms once again. She was hurting and so was he, and he just wanted to make it stop.

"I love you," she said quietly after a few moments. She'd realized she hadn't said it back when they'd been in Ryn's flat, and she didn't want him to doubt that, not now.

He kissed her forehead. "I know little one. I love you too. I'm sorry I ran out. I just...didn't want you to see me sick. You have enough to worry about." He pulled her against his chest and began humming, hoping it was comforting to her.

It was comforting, and she did forgive him for running away. Almost. But it also reminded her of when he'd hummed her to sleep before. "I'm sorry I made you go through all that, back at the hospital. Seems rather pointless now." After all, she was already dead. One couldn't die again now, could they? Though for all she knew, she could. Once upon a time, He'd said death was working backwards. This couldn't be what He'd meant.

"Sssh little one. Don't worry about it." He pulled Chelsea up for Lucy to hold. "Try to get some sleep. You can't fix anything tonight, and you look exhausted. I'm not going to leave you and I love you. We'll find a way through this."
