Sometimes I'm completely baffled by the news.

Like tonight they reported that Nine Inch Nails has canceled Arizona tour dates to protest SB 1070.

...But NIN isn't touring and was never scheduled to come here. So did they actually source this from Reznor or just surf random blogs and pull it out of their butt?

Pulled it out of their butt. It's like the media really is out to get him...they've been misqouting him and making stupid shit up for about as long as he's been around.

He's bitched about it on the NIN website from time to time.

Also, it's not just that Nine Inch Nails isn't touring; he's referring to How To Destroy Angels as his first "post-Nine Inch Nails" music, so apparently Nine Inch Nails has disbanded.

Not that it makes much of a difference. Reznor is, or was, the only permanent member of NIN. He hired or fired bandmates at will. So, working with this new set of people is nothing new, apart from the name change.

But still, they couldn't be bothered to get that detail right? Come on. If we can call them on such obvious mistakes, they're not doing their jobs right.

Finally figured it out tonight: The Sound Strike (who's "registering" boycotting bands) claims NIN joined the strike. Rolling Stone, the AP, and the rest of the newsmedia went with that as a source and ran.

I have no idea what kind of validation they actually do since they just have a signup form and want a huge list of participating artists. Seems kind of weird it's not mentioned at all on Reznor's/NIN's twitter/blog/site.

I'm tempted to try signing up as some known crazy right-wing musician just to see if "I" get listed as participating in Sound Strike.
