It occurs to me that my last entry was rather oafish, suggesting that the majority of everything published lately at FFNet was rubbish. Nothing like a sweeping generalisation to have people wondering "does that include me ( Read more... )

And you've had ample opportunity to read my badfic since I don't hide any of it - though it was never as bad as any E/E.

Bah, my fic is not that great, and besides you should feel free to snark about the truly badfic that you come across. I think a lot of us know instinctively that you don't dislike/snark on ALL fic, just--the ones that truly deserve being mocked.

*blushes* I don't consider myself particularly talented, but I'm really happy that you like my fics. And your previous note didn't seem rude or offensive to me.

Actually, I'm not that familiar with the English-speaking fandom (not to mention that the first time that I saw the musical was in December 2010); if I may ask, is Enjolras/Eponine really that much of an epitome of a badfic? To tell you the truth, I started to write E/E (well, kind of - a realistic take, based on the book) some time ago and now I'm wondering if it was a good idea. My original idea was to try myself with an "impossible" pairing, but now I'm getting the feeling that I'm being too eccentric. ;-) If I understand correctly, the general dislike for this pairing comes from the musical and not from the book, am I right?

I haven't read many Enjolras/Eponine fics (to tell you the truth, I'm not sure if I ever read any E/E that was longer than a miniature), but I think I get what you mean: in my previous fandoms there were also some popular pairings that seemed almost impossible to write. Sadly, many authors tended to deal with them in the manner of 'let's get them together because they look hot in bed', therefore they often ended up ruining the potential of said pairings. Even though, if thoroughly explored, they could make sense despite their initial impossibility ( ... )
