Character history- Born in After Colony 153, Sam was the product of an immigrant couple coming to the colonies not a few months after he was born. Not knowing the difference, life in space was all he knew for the son of a computer technician and an activist. As a kid he tended to get into more trouble than was actually worth, from playing hookie to playing harmless pranks on friends and peers. However, once around the age of ten, one of his more thoughtless actions got another kid hurt. The situation wasn't very severe, but the kid did need to get taken to the hospital for stitches. Then on, Sam made an effort to take more care into his actions, thanks to a long chat on the matter with his father.
Growing up on the colonies it was easy to see how much the world was changing all around him. Wars on Earth and the struggle to keep themselves unaffiliated with the conflicts made it almost too easy for the Alliance to maintain a certain level of control over the colony affairs despite removing their autonomy before Sam was even born. Even in a time of relative peace on the colony, their presence was still felt, and Sam always thought there was something wrong with that though he could do nothing about it. Throughout Sam's highschool career, a major influence on his life and those around him was the words of the non-violent pacifist Heero Yuy who was later made leader of the colonies. It was become of him that Sam adopted a pacifistic philosophy he holds to today..
In college, Sam attended a great number of Heero Yuy's speeches, even after he left the colony at L1 for Work at L2. He caught perhaps one of the last speech on the good will tour before the man was assassinated before the large colonist audience on TV. He and his fellow bar patrons were shocked, in awe of what had taken place. Following this, full alliance occupation of the colonies had taken place, with the Alliance employing human shaped war machines called Mobile Suits to suppress the people. Soon, even communication between the colonies was prohibited, and Sam was cut off from his family and everyone else he knew back on L1. He was effectively alone.
Upon his graduation from a laboring internship, Sam got himself at a maintenance corporation known as Hoffman Inc. Their job was to maintain the colony and keep it running. Not the most glamorous or well paying job, but it was work. Soon after, Sam was invited to join an organization called the Sweeper Group which was directly affiliated and run by the maintenance crew. The business was extra revenue for Sam, salvaging and selling junk from anything from car wreaks to shuttle accidents. Even though Sam had to work constantly, he began to think he had a future.
In 176 while at his usual dive, Sam met a girl named Brooke who worked at a nurse at the Midway Hospital. While she was shy, his persistence and playful personality eventually won her over just enough for him convince her to let him take her out. Over the next few years, the two like minded colonists became ever closer until finally they were married in AC 179, only to have a son a year later named Cody. He's been living with his family in a small home in the suburbs near Midway ever since.
Character personality-Sam is easy going for a guy in the middle lower class. He works hard, gets what he needs and he's happy doing just that. He's a self reliant and full of confidence, able to go into most situations with ease and a level head. While usually calm and level headed, he can be quite boisterous and adventurous at times, throwing caution to the wind for a thrill here and there. He values peace and is typically non violent, leaning towards other solutions for violent problems. That said, he tends to avoid direct conflict with others. In short, treat others as you'd like to be treated. Golden rule, right?
While he likes to be the nice guy, Sam is plagued by a fiery temper when provoked. A temper only to match his stubbornness and tenacity. While Sam is independent, he is extremely grateful and protective of the friends and family he has near, and wants to be close to them, but is happy to be alone just as well as needed. He does prefer to be with people when he has the time but he hasn't always found it necessary. The one exception is with his wife and son. He has devoted most of his love and attention to them in the past year that he certainly wouldn't be happy without them with them.
Sam is a wise ass, and certainly has a good sense of humor. He enjoys the company of all sorts of people and is generally easy to please. However, he does have strength in his convictions on a matter of topics, (such as pacifism) and is all too happy to defend his position, though he is open minded enough to concede when he is wrong provided that the person arguing with him presents a case. There are times when he does come on a bit too strong though. That's just his way.
Digimon personality- Bearmon is brash, haughty and reckless. Tough as he thinks he is, he also has a softer and affectionate side, especially for his partner. He is impatient and high energy and must always be on the move. Gluttonous as he is, he also has food on the mind often and does not know the meaning of the word diet. In battle, he's tenacious and willful, able to keep battling regardless of the blows he suffers. That's just his nature.
While he isn't stupid by any means, Bearmon is incredibly naive and young. Certain words fly over his head, as well as idioms and figures of speech. At times when he wants to be helpful, he may just make a bigger mess to clean up in the process, with no intent on cleaning it up. He's pretty young minded.
Character abilities- Sam has the strength of an average adult male human who engages in regular physical exercise and physical labor. As a computer user he has the ability of a novice IT technician which in modern terms would be fairly advanced depending on the computer. (However computers in his time are a whole different ballpark.) As a mechanic, he is an just below the expert level. He is a colony maintainer so he is well versed in mechanical engineering and even janitorial methods. With his work with the Sweeper Group, he is an very proficient in salvaging and shuttle operations. Also? He's a mad wiz with math and a guitar. Not half bad at singing either.
Sample RP- Sam tapped the pen against his lip as he looked over his work. Paperwork for the invoice. Course he just had to get paid for that other job and it would get them over this little financial bump. Either way, while he was feeling a bit stressed out, Cody certainly seemed happy with what he was doing. Finger painting his spaghetti. All over his face. And his high chair. He giggled when he saw his father looking and Sam reached over to wipe off his face with a moist cloth.
“Come on, champ. Go play with the puppy, huh?” Sam said as he pulled the boy free from his chair and let him down. He was running wild now, a fact that astonished Sam. That age old parental saying, “They grow fast.” rang true every time he looked at the boy. Their border collie Milly stood from her place under the table and trotted on over to the toddler, nudging him along into the living room.
Sam finished up his paperwork and headed out into the garage for a role of duct tape. It was there that he spotted a small device he'd never really seen before. Black with blue accents? Looked like a phone. Probably belong to one of the guys from last Friday when they stopped over for a drink. He opened the back and pressed the power only to hear a peculiar tone. On the screen wasn't a list of numbers but a pix elated image of a dog of some kind. “Huh. It's just a toy.”
The garage door opened and Sam grabbed the tape, waving to his wife as she drove in. He walked back around the corner into the kitchen, only to feel a strange feeling of weightlessness. It was like as if the floor had been dropped from under him, and then? He fell. Or so he thought.
Sample journal entry-
Sam! Hey! Old man! [A gruff little voice is heard over the comm.]
Hey! Look. Um. Little lizard. Thing. I don't really know what the heck you're supposed to be. I don't even know where I am. God-- I'm hallucinating aren't I? [The voice is quite a bit older sounding and not at all amused.]

Ow! Hey! Quit-Lemme go.
Once you stop going the wrong way! I'm Gabumon! Will you listen?
