Video Game Music

I will admit, I hardly play them (games) anymore. I immerse myself in games like Disgaea that are puzzle based and easy commitments but when it comes to RPGs, my true game love, I haven't played one all the way thru or hell, even beyond 10 hours in over a year now. I dunno if ff12 even COUNTS ( Read more... )

Oh my gosh! I know! I loved my FF music (Nobuo Uematsu is amaazing).

I was playing Tales of Symphonia (the first RPG I've actually played through since PS1 RPGs @_@) with my friend, and I noticed the music was all little beeps and such.

I wish Joe Hisaishi would compose some videogame music, haha. Actually, I think he did some for EVE?

I always felt like the Metal Gear series had some pretty epic music. On recent games Mirror's Edge has an amazing soundtrack.

My friends trash on me for never finishing ChronoTrigger. :( I bought it for the DS and it isn't getting any more finished.

I know what you mean... I used to take a cassette recorder up to the TV to record game music I really liked. Due to enemies harassing you or other level constraints and it took a bit of creativity to get a "clean" recording.

I definitely attribute most of that to the enthusiasm of my youth.

Mass Effect was the last soundtrack I felt was worth purchasing, but mainly because of the kick ass song on it from Faunts. But really, the game had some great 80's sci-fi reminiscent music overall. Oh but that track from the Faunts really did pull everything together for me. It's hard to describe, it just made me feel after making so many tough decisions and being such a hardass (which the game did a good job of actually making me feel uncomfortable with), that I could sit back and reflect on it all and just take a deep breath. And feel all emo and sad and shit I suppose...

But yeah, older game music did have so much more appeal, maybe because it had to carry the game much more back then.
