OP Chapter 672
I love Wednesdays. Seems strange because it’s smack in the middle of the business days, but to me, Wednesdays mean two things. Number one, I’m halfway through the week! :D And Number two…well, that should be obvious.
Chapter 672. So, SO many things to say about this chapter.
The cover page is adorable. Besides the fact that Zoro and Sanji are at it again (which always brings a silly grin to my face), the Hare and the Tortoise riding on top of them are also having a rather heated moment. Is it just me, or do they actually look like mafia bosses?
I don’t like Virgo. His condescending tone annoys me, the bun (or patty?) on his face looks ridiculous, and HE JUST HURT LAW! I am by no means a rabid Law fangirl, but STILL. He hit LAW with a clarinet-baton-thing! UNFORGIVABLE. I do wonder at his connection with Law; Virgo treats him like a child.
I really like Monet. She reminds me of Robin-as-Ms.All-Sunday, with that dry sense of humor and being a spy. Smart girl, to fool both Caesar Clown and Law (to an extent).
I don’t think Caesar Clown really poisoned the Straw Hats and the Marines…sleeping gas, maybe? Not everyone has immunity to poison like Luffy, so that would take out a good chunk of the Straw Hat and their allies. Or maybe they really ARE poisoned and part of the plot will be to find a cure!
On a somewhat related note, I feel really bad for Caesar's henchmen. They're all cheering for him, they all believe in him; they don’t know what happened to Brownbeard…
Oh, Brook. Please, don’t ever change. Just stay as the lovable, joke-cracking, sometimes-panicky skeleton that you are. (Thought he was 90 years old though, not 70. Did I get that wrong?)
And Zoro's so silly now. He’s so different from the stoic pre-timeskip Zoro we all know and love. But I guess he’s entitled to that change; after spending two years with only a straight-faced no-nonsense swordsman and a spoiled, demanding diva for company, someone had to develop a sense of humor.
Sanji!Nami is so cool! Besides the fact that this chapter shows off Sanji’s mad new skills and Haki, we also get to see what Nami is physically capable of! I hope she gets more development as a fighter; she doesn’t have to turn into melee monster like Sanji or Luffy, but I do want to see her kick more ass. Fishman Island was a little…disappointing.
Kinemon is so tall! Didn’t see that coming. Like every samurai ought to be, he’s honorable and pretty badass. I love how he bows to Sanji and pisses him off. Déjà vu anyone?
When I saw that Kinemon was about to “burn” the slime, I was pretty much shouting “DON’T DO IT!” because of what happened to the G-5 Marines who attempted that. Glad to see that Kinemon can take down giant explosions! Pretty impressive, really.
Zoro looks so excited to see more of Kinemon’s fighting style! Can’t wait ‘til the Straw Hats reach Wa-no-Kuni - Zoro is probably going to be (accidentally) challenging samurai left and right by having his sword sheaths clink against theirs. And then another dragon will show up! Yay for reusing plotlines! :D
Still cannot get over how good this arc is. I'm so damn excited! :D
