I actually made something!

A Fionna doll (from Adventure Time) for my aunt ♥

It’s the second doll I made, the first one being a tiny Link doll from Legend of Zelda. Took me about four nights to make. The material is felt, which I think is a little difficult to work with because of how easily the felt falls apart. I’d much rather use fleece, but I’ve yet to find any that comes in solid colors instead of patterns.

The doll is about nine inches tall and four inches wide. Fionna isn’t wearing her usual sky-blue shirt and dark-blue skirt because frankly, I’m just beginning to make these dolls and two articles of clothing is too difficult to make. That will be the next thing I’m going to work on.

I’m watching Adventure Time with my brother, but we’ve only seen a few episodes here and there, whenever it’s TV. I think it’s great; it looks really whimsical and lighthearted on the surface (which it is), but there’s also a darker side. It’s set on post-apocalypse Earth, where all the living beings are mutants of some kind. The setting looks medieval at first glance, but then I saw the debris of nuclear missiles and cars left over from the world-ending Mushroom War (which is disturbing enough on its own - people think it's called the Mushroom War because, well, what shape does the dust and smoke from a nuclear explosion make...?).

I absolutely love the characters, especially Marceline. Nine-hundred-year-old crazy punk rock star vampire who likes to compose music and float around scaring the life out of people? Epicness. And while I’m not especially fond of the Ice King, I really pity who he used to be: Simon Petrikov, an intellectual who found a magic crown that drove him insane and turned him into the affably evil mess that is the Ice King.

I should really watch the whole series from the beginning, but 100+ episodes is a little daunting. I’ll get around to it eventually. Yeah.
