crime shows and cable

I did not, by any means, grow up with cable.  (Growing up meaning that up until last year I did not have cable.)  Now we have this beautiful sparkly flat screen tv with more channels than square inches!  This is a New Thing and I have recently discovered the wonders of crime shows, the types they (they being executives, I suppose) run when there is ( Read more... )

-chuckles- As I seem to drift entirely away from cable, you get drawn closer and closer. (Though I haven't had access to cable since I went to college, but still.)

I do agree with what you say about SUV. (THEY SHOULD JUST KILL SOMEONE OFF TO SHOCK EVERYONE! JEBUS! AND THEY NEVER GET IN ANY TROUBLE FOR, OH SAY IF THEY BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF A SUSPECT. NOPE. NO TROUBLE. It annoys me slightly, but -shrugs-)

It is just so strange! It never occurred to me that there were actually commercials that bad, or tv shows that trashy. It is this dizzying and shimmering portal to consumerism and materialism and I like to stare at it, but not for too long or my head starts to hurt.

In a strange way it is sort of nice! Sarah and Iain and I have taken to watching it in slack jawed wonderment. Well maybe because the lead female is very attractive but that is okay. My favourite character is Munch, though.

Get on aim! Tis much faster for communicating. -chuckles-

And the thing I hate the most are the commercials! Oh, they annoy me. That and most programming. Most shows I do not care for at all. it makes me think humanity is just plain dumb. But at the same time that means I am dumb for sitting there and watching horrid shows too. -laughs-

Nein! Too much beck-and-call. I like the slower means of communication because one is expected to place more thought in it.

Really? I think that they're fascinating. You have to think about what effect that they try to have on you, and if it has worked, and upon whom around you they might have worked- you have to wonder how differently we think without advertising! Who would buy such a garish thing and why would they think that it would make them happy? Who would remember that number? You know?

I am beginning to nurse this respect for television shows. They're like comic books to me.
