When Mrs Strange was a child, there were apple trees near her home. She has very distinct memories of climbing them when she was small and retrieving the apples-- now, as a grown woman with, she certainly hopes, some degree of dignity, that seems a bit excessive. Helen is out and about for a walk, a small book tucked under one arm. She's worn her hair up, as it's now cool enough that the scarf wrapped around her neck won't draw much attention.

But it's been a good day, as symptoms go, and the weather is pleasant and sunny. So when she sees Arabella, she actually says, "Good day," in her clear but accented tones.
