Writing my way through life

Sep 15, 2012 19:34

Inspired by Tejas, I figured I'd do my own "path of a writer" post.

First, I don't ever remember not writing. My mom taught me my alphabet when I was about nine months old using the Boston Globe. She'd sit me on her lap while she read the paper, and to would have me find all the "a"s on a page to keep me occupied. When I learned one letter, she'd ( Read more... )

musing, story cubes challenge, writing process, writing goals, original fic, real life, plot bunnies

Loved reading about your journey!!! And good on ya, not falling into the 'do it quick and fast" and focusing on quality. That is what really makes indie authors stand out to me!

Thanks - glad you enjoyed it. I think the people who will make a success of this long-term are the ones who don't fall into that trap. Especially since one of the advocates for pushing out more and more stories was John Locke, and his role in the review-buying scandal seems to be KOing his credibility.

Yeah that is just so unfortunate :/

I picked up a couple of his boss and they were a mess, quality wise :(

This was an interesting read! I've often wondered how people get into writing, if it's something they've always done, or found later in life.I too loved writing when I was young, but then somehow just forgot about it. And now, through fanfiction, I'm finding my way back to something I love.

And I totally get what you say about writing slow. Rushing into things only makes me regret things later, wishing I'd done a better job to begin with. (But I also try to remind myself, that I can't go on editing indefinitely, the story has to be considered finished at some point.)

It was very helpful and enlightening to hear about your relationship with writing. Thank you so much for sharing your journey, it encourages me to continue mine. Can't even begin to imagine what'll become of me, you never know what's gonna happen :) I'm still such a probie at things, but no matter what, I'm happier now that I write.

Good luck with all your endeavours! ^_^

Thanks for reading, Xanthe! I'm hoping some others besides Tejas post these writing paths pieces - it is really interesting to see how we all get to where we are.
