We Are Broken; five drabbles
1. Taeyeon/Leeteuk; Suspicions
Taeyeon sneaks into the living room and catches a glimpse of the newest episode of We Got Married. She stays quiet, so the other girls don’t discover her snooping around.
She sees the way he’s gazing into Sora’s eyes, almost, if not, lovingly.
And it confirms her suspicions about him.
Silently, she creeps back to her empty bedroom. Robotically, she pulls out her cell phone and finds his contact and hits delete.
Why bother with someone who didn’t spend a single second thinking about you, the way you thought about them?
2. Heechul/Jessica; Forgotten
Her eyes roam over Jungmo’s latest Twitter update.
What she finds is a picture of him and Heechul eating out together.
She slams her laptop shut and tosses it to the side, not caring what damage would be done.
He has forgotten about her existence--what other explanation was there? Four months and he hasn’t called her once or sent her a single text message. Was she important to him? As a little sister, best friend...
Maybe more?
Jessica slowly crawled under the covers.
And let the tears fall.
3. Seohyun/Kyuhyun; Different Smiles
“Great job, Kyuhyun-oppa.”
“Thanks, Seohyun-ah, you too.”
He sees her walk away from him, and in an instant, whip out her phone. She’s holding it to her ear and suddenly, she’s smiling. She’s smiling a smile that he’s never seen before, and Kyuhyun knows why.
It’s Yonghwa.
4. Sungmin/Sunny; Then
Sungmin’s staring.
He’s staring.
He’s staring so intensely, he swears he’s going to bore holes into her head. He prays and shouts to her inside his head to just look at him.
But she never turns around.
Sunny’s ignoring.
She’s ignoring.
She’s ignoring him so well, she’s aware of that fact. She wills herself to not turn around, not to give in because what they had was then.
But he never sees the agonized look on her face.
5. Hyoyeon/Eunhyuk; Giving Up
Eunhyuk was trapped, in the worst way possible.
Donghae had explained it to him by saying that he was “stuck in the friend zone” with Hyoyeon. He didn’t quite understand what his friend had meant by that.
Donghae had gone on to say, “You waited too long, Hyukjae, to say something, anything to her. I don’t think Hyoyeon will ever see you as anything more than a friend.”
And so Eunhyuk greeted Hyoyeon’s cheerful smiles and playful punches with the fakest of gummy grins and half-hearted punches back that screamed,
I give up.
