Short and Sweet

Write ten lines of dialogue between two characters who had drunken sex last night are not talking about it. Ever.

“Oh, morning, Hyukjae. What are you doing around here so early?”

“Hi, Hyo. I think I left my phone in one of the practice rooms.”

“Really? I came here because I thought I left something behind, too.”

“Wanna go look together?”

“Sure.”

“I think it was this practice room, right?”

“Me too.”

“Huh, how weird.”

“Hyukjae, I thought I ‘d inform you that your shirt is inside-out, and I see an article of clothing over there that may or not be yours.”

“...Ah, shit.”

Write a scene in four sentences in which two characters bond over something that would seem trivial to a passerby.

Luna wakes up bright and early on a particularly beautiful spring morning in May, and decides she should go for a bike ride around the neighborhood.

As she pedals faster and faster, she realizes that there is someone who is following behind her, trying their hardest to catch up to her; she slows.

“Hello, I noticed you riding your bike and thought you would enjoy some company; nice weather, huh?”

Luna is unable to suppress the smile evident on her face as she replies, “Yes, it’s very pretty.”

-----

Write seven sentences from the perspective of a passerby witnessing the second scene.

My mother harps at me to get out of bed and do something productive today. I roll my eyes behind her back; my name is Shim Changmin, not Cho Kyuhyun--though then again, that kid is just as lazy as me.

I sigh and groan, trudging downstairs to open all the windows in the house, as she had asked me to do not even two minutes ago. I squint as the bright sunlight floods the living room. I push the windows open and notice two people maybe my age or a bit younger pedaling by on their bicycles.

She is smiling, and he is smiling.

And I think to myself: This must be what love looks like.

-----

Write a character’s reaction to someone’s love confession in one sentence.

“But Kyuhyun-oppa, don’t you think we’re a bit young to get married?” Seohyun questions innocently, not realizing that Kyuhyun’s romantic spiel was a confession, and not a proposal.

-----

Write a scene in six sentences in which a character is searching for someone in the last moments of the end of the world.

He lied, he pretended, he faked being happy as to not hurt her.

Jungsu did the wrong thing; he admitted this much.

In the midst of the mass chaos around him, he runs towards her, towards the place he knew where she would be waiting for him, because Taeyeon promised she would wait and that she would be patient, whereas he made the terrible mistake of abandoning her.

Jungsu made mistakes, but never one as colossal as this.

She calls out his name desperately; he hears it.

And he pushes himself to his limits, running harder and faster.

-----

Write a breakup scene in three sentences without giving the reason for it or using dialogue.

It’s Kibum who breaks the news to Amber; it’s over, it’s all over, what they had.

She stares at him disbelievingly, unmoving from her spot.

He lowers his head, whispers an apology, and walks away--he’s not good enough for her.

-----

Write two characters’ second kiss in two sentences.

The second kiss Hyoyeon and Hyukjae share is different from the first kiss in a thousand different ways--excluding the fact that the first was a total accident.

The second kiss is imperfectly perfect, with her fingers tangled in his hair and his hands hugging her waist, but the second kiss is initiated when they learn that they’re stupid and oblivious--that makes it perfect.

pairing: taeyeon/leeteuk, pairing: seohyun/kyuhyun, pairing: hyoyeon/eunhyuk, group: smtown, pairing: key/amber, pairing: luna/onew
