From the Beginning till Now (1/?)

“Hyukjae, we’re going down for dinner now.”

Hyukjae nodded, slipping on his comfortable gray hoodie and pulling the hood over his blonde head. “Okay, let’s go.”

The leader and dancer were led down to the noisy lobby by one of the managers. Fangirls and boys alike were shouting and screaming frantically, waving and squealing and cheering. Leeteuk smiled at them all and Hyukjae gave a little wave to a group of teenage girls, who promptly screamed in excitement. Hotel staff bustled around, trying to push the ever-moving crowds back. A space was cleared for Leeteuk and Hyukjae to walk through, and soon, they were outside.

Hyukjae inhaled deeply and sighed.

He still wasn’t used to the air of this foreign city.

The unmistakable signature pink colored bus was waiting for them, its motor rumbling softly. Kibum suddenly came rushing in front of them out of nowhere. He quickly turned around, flushed and apologized, but Leeteuk merely dismissed him with an easygoing smile. Kibum hopped on the bus first, climbing the few steps. Hyukjae followed behind and Leeteuk took the back.

Hyukjae tried to peer around the SHINee member, frantically looking around for her.

“Hyoyeon, can I sit with you?”

Too late.

The blonde cursed at himself. How could he not get there first? He stood a few steps behind Kibum and watched the pair closely. He kept praying for her to say no, just to say no...

“Sure, I don’t mind.”

But she wouldn’t say no. She was too nice.

Sullenly, he witnessed Kibum plopping his rear end down in the seat with the girl he was supposed to be sitting with. Hyukjae slowed his pace of walking as he passed the seat. He felt someone tap his arm and he turned.

“Hey.”

She was smiling so cheerfully that he couldn’t help but smile a little back. That was the effect she had on people.

Hyukjae retreated to the back and saw Donghae smirking at him. Slumping down, he tried to suppress a frustrated sigh, but Donghae noticed, like all best friends should.

“You’re so weak,” Donghae remarked, still smirking.

Hyukjae thought about his response for a moment before finally saying, “I know.”

“Hyukjae!”

Hyukjae’s head snapped up, hearing a beautiful voice. He saw Hyoyeon’s bright eyes twinkling down at him and began to smile.

“Hey...”

“Why do you look so sad?” Hyoyeon tilted her head to the side curiously, frowning.

Donghae was grinning widely, probably his reaction from hearing her call Hyukjae, Hyukjae. “He--”

Hyukjae nudged Donghae harshly in his left side. “Don’t listen to him; I’m fine.”

“You sure?” Hyoyeon asked, unconvinced.

“I’m sure, Hyo.”

“Okay. Well, I’m sitting in front of you.” her head disappeared behind the seat, but suddenly sprang back up again.

“Is that okay?” she asked, almost teasingly.

Hyukjae rolled his eyes, smiling as he did so. “Get out of here.”

Hyoyeon pouted at him, one of the rare times she showed aegyo. “Jerk.”

Hyukjae poked his head out of the seat and glanced at the seat Hyoyeon was formerly sitting in. He spotted a head of boyish hair.

Amber.

He had never felt more thankful for the girl in his life.

“Donghae? I thought you were saving a seat for me!” a feminine voice piped up.

“Tiffany!” Donghae exclaimed happily.

He promptly pushed his best friend out of his seat. “Yeah, sorry, Hyuk was just talking to me.”

Tiffany giggled at Hyukjae, who was currently sprawled out on the floor. The engine rumbled fully to life and the bus began pulling out of the hotel parking lot. Tiffany quickly sat down next to Donghae and Hyukjae crawled to the seat in front of the sickeningly sweet couple.

“Can I sit with you?” Hyukjae grinned.

“Sorry, seat’s full,” Hyoyeon stuck her tongue out at him.

Disregarding her statement, Hyukjae picked himself up off the ground and settled himself in next to her. And suddenly, everything felt right.

“How are you feeling now?” Hyoyeon questioned with a smile, nudging his arm with hers.

“Good,” he admitted.

“You’re silly sometimes, you know?”

Hyukjae frowned. “How?”

Hyoyeon leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes and their arms were still touching. She began reminiscing their long past on the ride to the restaurant.

“Nothing, forget I said anything...”

Thinking she was sleeping, he played with the soft strands of her hair absentmindedly as he listened to strings of random conversations on the bus.

And everything was perfect.

So this is just gonna be a set of drabbles, all HyoHyuk.
I'll update whenever I usually feel like, but I haven't planned how many I'll have yet.
This one was inspired by a picture I saw (too lazy to paste here) of Hyoyeon and Key sitting together on the bus when the SM family was in New York.
Thanks for reading. :)
