I've been thinking about this all day, but I don't feel so 'at home' any more on Livejournal. Lately I feel like most people just use where they can bitch and moan. I DO think that is what a blog is about, sure, but not to the point that all of your posts are just you complaining about everything that is going on with your life. That is life in ( Read more... )

For what it's worth, I enjoy reading your posts and I'm happy to have you around here and on twitter. Fandom is a different experience for everyone. I have people on my f'list who write fic, people who read it, people who make art, picspams, fanmixes, thinky posts, people who compile link lists, etc. etc. etc. There's no right or wrong way to experience fandom, it's about engaging with the show/film/~media you love in the way you're comfortable with. So you don't really like fic, so what? There's so much else out there. So you can't write dazzlingly witty episode reviews, so what? I'd be happy just to read your thoughts in bullet points. Hell, I'd be happy just to read your "OMG ♥" and reply with "OMG I KNOW ♥".

I think you're smart and wonderful and I hope you don't give up on LJ. The end. ♥

I like having you around here but it's not obligatory to BE here, you know. You can leave whenever you want. And you can skip entries on your flist you don't like. You're not obligated to comment to them either.

Of course people bitch and moan in their blog. I do too, a lot at times. It's good for people to vent and get things out of their system. Last year I was going through a rough time and my lj friends pulled me through it.
There are people that never bitch and moan on LJ and I admire them for that. I need my venting sometimes. I would go crazy without it.

But if you get annoyed so much by people posting about their lives, why don't you cut them? I don't mean this harsh or anything, but you can give a reason to cut those people, like "I don't want to read personal stuff" or whatever.

Just so you know, I won't stop posting about my life so if you feel like cutting me, no hard feelings :)

I have to say, I actually do agree to an extent about the bitching. Yes, I do realise that people can use their journals as they see fit but sometimes it just gets... tiring. People need a healthy dose of perspective and to realise that 99% of the time they're better of than A LOT of other people.

As for fandom, well, I don't really bother with it much either. I don't really understand why some people get as into it as they do. It's not real life. I enjoyed The Pacific, for example, immensely but at the end of the day it's just a TV show. Fandom is weird. Some members get to competitive and catty about the whole thing.

But none of this should make you feel as though you shouldn't be here. You can use LJ as you like. You don't have to big on fandom (or bitching ;)) to justify your place here. So keep posting about what you like for as long as you want to. It's your journal. :)

I saw your tweet about this and I read this post already, but I didn't get to responding before. I still feel like responding though, so that's why I'm doing that right now anyway ( ... )
