looking at the man - boy, he looked like a boy, so much younger than her and Jacob - standing by the trees.

That is completely terrifying to me for some reason. You really tapped into the creepiness of vampires.
It's way more than the predatory blood drinking, I think. The idea that they exist outside of the natural realm is horrifying in its own right.
