Dying hurt about as much as Hal imagined. It was all academic- as the blood loss became too great, the victim would start feeling less and less, the numbness pervasively coating all sensation, pain or otherwise. He never felt the felling blow of Larxene's knife, just the feeling of falling without moving ( Read more... )

[And have a soaking wet rather concerned looking Sora staring at you in the face, blinking all so confused. He's never met Hal, but why on earth is there someone lying on the floor in the rain.]

Are you alright?

Hal blinked and tracked his eyes up, following large shoes to the odd offspring for bell-bottoms and capris, up... a lot of belts, to large blue eyes. Unfamiliar blue eyes, which was actually a comfort.

Hal nodded slowly. "Against all probability and thoughts of causality, yes." Sighing, he busied himself tugging the hood of his white long jacket up and over his head, blocking some of the rain. "New day on the planes, I assume... How many days has it been since the Reviva festival?" Good a way as any to suss out how long he'd been dead.

Sora's just blinking at him, unsure about why anyone would be in the rain unless they're new? No no, He mentioned the festival.

"Uh... 5 not including today... why?" And then it hits him like a brick. "You're not the guy that Larxene..." And a pause before he just blurts out,"No wonder they won't stay dead!"

Hal laughed at the sudden outburst. "Death is a temporary thing in other worlds too, huh?"

"Yes, I'm him. Was him. I'm noticeably not in pieces now. I look like a jigsaw puzzle though," he muttered, tracing some of the lines on his arm. "That's... going to give me new and exciting nightmares." He sighed, finally paying the boy some proper attention. "I don't think we've been introduced, though you apparently know me."

[... Can't say Roxas did much either. Still, his expression is blank as he watches the man talk to himself, fuss over his glasses, and erect his posture. All things Roxas has come to know from the humble man.

He only leans over, shielding him from the rain under an umbrella with keys printed on it, not hardly sparing a smile.]

Welcome ... Welcome home.

Hal stared up at his fellow barcoder, an easy smile settling over his face. He was always glad to see Roxas.

"Mm, I guess so." He hung his elbows on his knees, gaze tilted easily up. "Hello, Roxas. Nice umbrella. Somehow apropos. Did I miss anything important?" Like Larxene's tragic and hopefully permanent death, he didn't say by some miracle.

[It was all Roxas could really offer, anyway. It wasn't like he was about to ... hug the man. He only repeated words as he had seen them in the homes of others.]

Not particularly.

"Well, that's good." Hal leaned hard on his knees, slowly getting to his feet, carefully not to hit Roxas' umbrella on the way up. He winced in pain and spent a moment stretching out his very sore muscles. He felt like he'd never used any of them before, which... made some sense, really. He'd have to get some new nanos in him, as his were missing, run some scans...

Right. Roxas. Boy who looked even more stoic and blank than usual. Hal used one finger to lift the brim of the umbrella, just enough so if wasn't blocking his view of Roxas. "Are you all right?" he asked in a soft, worried tone.

... What.

Oh, you have got to be kidding me. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Come to join our ranks as a Nobody? Oh, Superior. I think Axhl is going to join us!

Or rather ... got it memorized?

[deep, extremely annoyed groan- he's been alive five minutes and already you have to bother him? God, Larxene, go torture cute baby animals or something.]

No, I don't get it. No, I am not a Nobody. Yes, I'd like you to please leave me alone while I figure this out.

[But she already has! Pinned them to Saïx's headboard for admiration, even.]

Oh, c'mon. You're a smart man. "Axhl"? "Axel"? Aha.

Rebecca stares at the once-dead-Otacon...

"How...what...what's going on?!"

She's starting to freak out now.

"It's not that I don't want you to be dead, but that's impossible! The only people I saw come back from the dead were zombies!!"

Rebecca ponders whether or not to pull her gun out on Otacon, and continues to flip out.

Hal held up his hands placatingly. "N-now think about this. We're in a infinitely tall building suspended in a sea of nothingness after being lifted from our myriad home worlds from different points in time." Taking a deep breath, he finished, "How is this any different?"

Hal smiled in what he hoped was a reassuring manner and raised his eyebrows at Rebecca. "And besides, I don't look like a zombie, do I?" He really didn't want to have to tranq her...

Rebecca relaxed and decides against pulling her gun out on the poor man. "You've got a point, and no, you look nothing like a zombie. This is just so strange though."

Rebecca blushes now, and she feels rather awkward. "Sorry if I frightened you. Just...try not to die again please."

"You think it's strange? I was dead a few minutes ago," he breathed, slightly awed.

Hal laughed. "It's not on my to-do list, so hopefully I won't."

You are alive.

What happened? I was blind on the day you were killed.

L. Hello.

Larxene attacked and murdered me. I'm... back now. Death doesn't last very long on this world either, it seems.

Yes. She boasted about it. I spoke to her at length, but I was unable to see any visual component of what happened.

Our means of learning it was unfortunate -- for you, more than anyone -- but it is a good thing to know.

Probably for the best. She wasn't very kind to my body.

It does change things, yes...
