That is such a weird situation. I sort of feel the way you do. I stayed here to remain in my comfort zone and chose music as my major because it was something I was good at... that I AM good at. But really I want to learn learn learn everything about science and astronomy and physics. I want to do research on the red limit and quasars and stuff. But I'm afraid to change my major and transfer to a good science school that would have me in a heartbeat because it's sort of scary and really differs from the norm that I'm used to.
I've been thinking about it a lot, and I have no idea what to do yet, so I'm probably no help. I just wanted you to know that I get what you're saying and you're definitely not the only one in this situation. In the end, do what you want in your heart and don't let anyone else influence your choice. I remember how you were in elementary school and I feel like you've changed but remained the same, in a way, so I know that whatever you do, you'll be great at it and succeed. :D
Curious - are you music performance or music education currently? I was going to do music before I decided on theatre. I love that we both still do music! It's been such a long time. c:
But, anyway. It's really reassuring to know I'm not alone in this. I keep wavering back and forth because - yeah. It's just a fear. It's a legitimate fear. I worry that I'm not going to be able to strive and succeed somewhere that's not Keene.
-sigh- I wish decisions were easy, but I guess then the results wouldn't be rewarding.
Thanks, Sarah. -hughug- I know that you'll succeed as well. You're such an original, smart person and I envy that in you. c:
