One
Keito and Inoo sat in the middle of the JUMP practice room, doing their homework together on the table. The bags under Keito’s eyes and his disheveled hair were proof that he had been stressing out, especially with the college entrance exams he’d been studying for.
Shifting in his hard chair, Keito placed his head in his arms. He groaned and moved around, having trouble closing his eyes. Looking to his side at Inoo, he came up with an idea.
Inoo was surprised and jumped a little when he suddenly felt something in his lap. Seeing it was Keito, eyes closed and with a smile on his face, made him more confused.
“Keito, what are you-”
“Just a little while, Inoo-chan, I’m tired. Can I just stay here for a little while?” Keito opened his weary eyes and looked up at Inoo pleadingly.
Inoo smiled warmly, and kissed Keito’s forehead with his cool lips, watching at the fatigued boy closed his eyes, snoozing off into slumber land.
“Sure, anything for you, Keito.”

Leaning back into the uncomfortable seat, Keito sighed and rolled his head back, staring blankly at the ceiling of the car. Most of the other members were asleep by now, and Keito seriously envied them. He was beyond tired, traveling all day in a cramped van did that to him, but because of being stuck in the uncomfortable middle seat, he just couldn’t fall asleep.
“Keito,” Inoo whispered into his ear from the right, causing Keito to jump and squeak a little in surprise. He was pretty sure the older boy had fallen asleep already, “Why are you awake?” Inoo asked, staring at him curiously.
“Can’t get comfortable,” Keito shifted in his seat, grumbling, “I guess I’ll just pass out when we get to the hotel, or whatever.”
Inoo frowned, “That’s not for another few hours, you need your sleep. Here,” Inoo leaned over and unbuckled Keito’s seatbelt, “Lay down on my lap.”
Keito raised an eyebrow, “Really? You seemed weirded out the last time I did it.”
Inoo resisted the urge to roll his eyes as he nodded, “Yeah, c’mon, you need your sleep.”
Keito paused, hesitating for a moment, but he knew that Inoo was right, and so he shifted in his seat until his head lay in Inoo’s lap. It took him a few moments to find a comfortable spot, but once he found it, he was out, his breathing slowing down as Inoo’s fingers gently massaged through his hair.

Collapsing onto the bed, Keito rolled over and placed his head in Inoo’s lap, his hands tucked under his chin and his legs curled up next to Inoo’s.
Inoo sighed, poking the younger boy, “You do realize that there is a perfectly good bed over there,” Inoo pointed to the right, where said perfectly good bed was, “And I’m sure it is much more comfortable than my bony legs.”
“Nah, your legs are wonderful,” Keito mumbled sleepily, “Besides, I’ve also come to realize that I enjoy sleeping on you. You’re warm, and you’re soft, and, it’s just nice.” Keito yawned, cuddling further into Inoo’s lap.
“You’re so weird,” Inoo shook his head, chuckling.
“S’ok, you still love me,” Keito mumbled as he dozed off, unaware of the deep blush spreading across Inoo’s face.

Sitting on top of the hill, the couple held hands as watched the sky turn pink and orange, at the sun set behind the horizon. The smell of the freshly cut grass surrounding them filled their nostrils, calming their senses.
“This is nice, isn’t it?” Inoo cooed.
Keito nodded, wanting this perfect moment to last forever. He began to contemplate life before Inoo had agreed to be his, filling the hole in his heart. His thoughts got away from him though as he began to wonder, what if Inoo stopped loving him one day, and left? How would he be able to cope through such heart break?
“Hey, what’s wrong?” Inoo asked worriedly when he noticed that the younger boy had begun to cry, “Keito?”
“I was, I was just thinking,” Keito said softly, sniffling, as he attempted to stop his tears with the sleeve of his shirt.
Inoo sighed, “About that again? Come here,” he patted his lap, a signal for Keito to lie down, which he did gratefully, “Keito, being with you has made me so happy, I can’t even really imagine what life would be like without you. From the moment we got together, you’ve been so wonderful, and I feel so fortunate. I love you, okay?” Inoo stroked Keito’s cheek, brushing away the tears, “Let’s be happy together, for as long as we can.”
Bending his head down, Inoo softly kissed Keito’s lips, tasting the salty tears that gathered around his mouth. When he pulled away, Keito’s eyes were closed, and his breathing was slowing down.
“I love you, Inoo,” he mumbled, before he began to snore lightly, falling asleep.
Inoo chuckled, brushing away the bangs that covered the younger boy’s closed eyes, and said, “I love you too,” before planting another kiss upon those lips.
Five
When the heart monitor let out an echoing beep, the doctors looked down at Keito, their expressions sad and regretful that they couldn’t save his friend. Keito didn’t plain them though, he knew they tried their hardest to save Inoo.
“Oh God,” Keito tightened his grip on Inoo’s hands, still warm, although they now had no life in him. It wasn’t fair, Inoo was supposed to be fine, his love had constantly reassured that everything would be fine.
“Kei,” Keito began to cry, starring at his pink lips and closed eyes. It was hard to believe he was gone, that while he looked so alive right now, his heart was no longer beating.
Leaning in, he placed one last kiss upon Inoo’s lips, and then placed his head in Inoo’s lap. He starred at Inoo’s beautiful face though blurry eyes, not even trying to stop the tears.
That night, Keito cried himself to sleep on Inoo’s lap, knowing that it was the last time he’d be able to do so.
I’m sorry, Kei. I’m sorry, I couldn’t save you.
