Allison from Palmdale Speculation

Sep 25, 2008 20:28

So, I've noticed a few things and I'm making speculation (based off of certain promotional information and pictures, which are posted), but I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who wants to be surprised.  Mind you, you won't find anything major under here like what Cameron's true origins are.  Although, I do have a theory about what her ( Read more... )

i agree, he didn't build her, because if he had there shouldn't be any skynet programming, which she obviously had (or has??? but chooses to ignore it 0.o) i hope that scene is from this chapter cause is so full of sexual tension

besides i want to see john all worried about cameron (especially after being such an ass this last episodes >I)

I think we can definitely count on seeing John worry about Cameron in Allison from Palmdale. He still really cares about her (and is in love with her, I believe) and I think he'll freak out a bit like he always does when she's in trouble.

I actually think the reason that he's being a jerk to her right now is because she pushed him away in "Automatic for the People". You know, in the chapel, when he asked her if she was okay and she said that he couldn't be trusted? I think she really hurt his feelings. And then he met Riley, of course, and he's kind of clinging to her, so he's pushing Cam and Sarah away because of that, too.

And, man, I could just talk about this show all day. :)

Just because Cameron reverted to "Terminate John Connor" mode, I don't think John made her from scratch. It's possible he added quite a bit, but if that was her prime directive, I don't see John putting that in.

I have to say that I'm really looking forward to the John angst as well as the Cameron angst. I'll be interested to see how a memory-less Cameron behaves. Will she be more human than usual? How does that make sense at all? And yet that's what the preview seems to be.

I too have been waiting for this Monday’s episode. Been looking forward to it since I heard they were going to do a flash forward story featuring Cameron. I think you are right about John’s comment in S&D. He may think he built from scratch, but it is more likely in context of the show that he ‘remade’ her into a good terminator with qualities never before seen.

In season one I went back and forth on thinking John built or just reprogrammed her. And I suspect the writers also were unable to decide. Cromartie unable to identify her in the pilot certainly gave weight to the former, but I’ve since settled on the idea that he reprogrammed her.

Nice find with those screen captures. Thanks for sharing. Should be a great episode!

I don't know if I ever put much stock into the "John made her" theory, even in season 1. It definitely confused me when, like you said, Cromartie couldn't identify her model number, but once I really started thinking about Cameron's origins, it just made more sense to me to believe that she was made by Skynet and reprogrammed by John. Of course, before season 2, I didn't really think about it too much because I didn't feel like I could really narrow anything down. She was too much of a mystery.

In the beginning I wasn’t sure how deep they were going to get in exploring human nature, emotion, and life itself. Not having enough faith in Fox to let the writers go to those places, I figured they would one day simply explain Cameron’s humanity away by just saying John made her that way for his younger self.

Boy, was I wrong. :-)

The flash forward in Dungeons and Dragons and the themes of Vick’s Chip surprised me in the questions the show proved it would not only raise but also possibly answer. Once I realized they were going to look at those issues, I started leaning away from the simple answers of why Cameron is the way she is.

If John could take Cameron and turn her into not only a force for good but also awaken the possibility of emotion, then it said something very powerful about the machines in general and where they might be heading. The trust John seems to give her in the future (not to mention security clearance) is still striking to me when I re-watch the episodes.

Wow. Sorry if I got a little wordy there. :-)

Oh, Fox, how we distrust thee. XD Well, I definitely can't fault anyone for that. They killed Firefly (which I will probably never fail to bring up whenever someone badmouths that network) and I have never looked at them the same way since.

No need to apologize for a long comment about TSCC, especially when it's about John and Cameron. :) I hope we get to see a lot more of the future and get a better look at their relationship there as well. It kind of seems like it's personal (with her knowing about things like his mother reading "The Wizard of Oz" to him in Spanish when he was a kid), and he obviously trusts her a lot (high security clearance, the importance of her mission), but then you have to wonder if that's true, then why didn't he tell her Kyle Reese was his father? So many blank spots.

I love this show. lol.
