This morning was the first morning in over four years that I dragged my sorry ass out of a nice warm bed at 7 in the morning to go to church. I met with Chris's family at Mars Hill, a popular nondenominational church in the area (I'm really thankful that they're not Catholic because with my knee all messed up I don't think I would have survived the ( Read more... )

For me... faith is between me and god. I don't need to wave my arms over my head validate my faith.
Some do. Some need to see, feel, and hear that camaraderie.
So, it's hard to say.
If you don't like it. Don't feel bad. If you do. Don't feel bad.

I have so many things to say to this but I guess the most important is that Christianity is supposed to be about faith, not religion ( ... )

I realize you wrote this a couple years ago, but I was reading one of your fics and this caught my eye. Hope you don't mind. Christian music commercialism is a pet peeve of mine. And I'm fascinated by the poetry of the way our founding fathers wrote about their lives and faith, not just in lyrics, but...anyway. If you're still reading this I'll give you the advice my pastor gave me:

"If you want to know what a church should be, start reading Galatians. If you want to learn about your faith, read everything else. Listen to others, like myself, but don't take our word for it. Question everything, look it up for yourself and don't be afraid to ask me anything. If I don't know, I'll try to find out or we can research it together. But if you try to just read the Bible, you'll get lost. Find something that interests you, a starting point and start asking questions. Research. You'll learn so much more if you care than if you just sit in a pew."
