My two favorite times to do radio--election night and bad weather days--when we exploited what radio still does better than any other medium: keep listeners in touch with the latest situation. Television tries, but it still gets way too caught up with "what looks good" to ever be truly immediate. Even better when it is public radio which doesn't even let spots get in the way (although some commercial radio stations sometimes forego the revenue as a public service...and to enhance their public image).

But was easy to say when I lived only two blocks from where I worked. It was not so fun when work was 15 miles away and a blizzard was happening and I couldn't get to work!

These days I enjoy the luxury of working from home with the support of my employer...as long as I bring my computer home with me!
