To start with a word of advice, DON'T download the new AIM 5.5 or whatever. It's SO annoying. It gives you a play-by-play of everything all the people on your buddy list are doing. For example, when someone puts up an away message it says "NAMEHERE is away" and when they come back it says "NAMEHERE has returned" and when they are idle it says "

you can turn those INNOYING pop up/play-by-play things off, just go to the option menu.
