Hell is not a place of fire and brimstone. Hell is probably not a place where you burn and boil for all eternity. Perhaps hell is more closely related to ghosts and poltergeists

or u know what, maybe none of that is true. maybe when u die.. u die. period. u rot in the ground and worms eat u. if there isnt anything after death, who cares u wont know, ur dead. and if there is something else, then make sure u live life to the fullest. its simple really. just simple.

I cant remember who said this, but it is an interesting insight...

Let's assume there is a God.
You don't believe he exists.
This upsets him.
He "sends" you to hell - whether that is hellfire and brimstone or just a repetition of the most painful moments in your life, whatever hell may be.
He "sends" you to hell because you don't, or rather didnt believe he exists.
There is a word for that...for when someone is upset because you don't believe in his existence.
It's called vanity.
And surely if there is a God - he is not vain.
Or at least one would hope that is the case.

Or as you said, maybe not who knows. Hence why I am Agnostic. :-)

you bring up a good point. but now consider this.

Let's assume there is a God.
You don't believe in him.
God wants to lead you to paradise with Him in heaven.
Because you don't believe he exists, you don't follow him. (why follow something that doesn't exist in the first place, right?)
He can't take you with him by any means because he gave us the gift of Free Will- we choose whether or not to follow him

chris you bring up a good point on repitition of horrible events, because our worst fears in life is to relive our worst moments in them makes sense...but i dont believe in a hell or the nine circles such as dante writes. but what if your hell is to relieve the pain on earth another life maybe. reencarnation to deal with the pains of human mortality all over again until you get it right. now god is forgiving and loving thats why we have good and bad emotions. maybe hell is not reptition of our worst times in life maybe hell is repetition of life itself until we are allowed to enter heaven. thats how i see it. i mean we all have those flash backs of past times.
