Iconing question for you. Are there any tutorials that you recommend as far as coloring goes? I really want to try out some new coloring techniques, but I have no idea where to start.
And since you do such beautiful work, I wanted to ask your advice. :)
It's funny that you asked me this right now as I am literally right in the middle of looking through icon tutorials since I'm trying to make myself some Merlin icons.
I started writing all these long paragraphs about stuff for you but before I do I just want to know, are you wondering about colouring specifically for ATWT or just in general?

Um, both?
I'll say in general to be safe.
(But I certainly wouldn't mind some pointers for ATWT. The lighting in those scenes can vary so wildly that it's a little maddening. They need to spend all their time at Katie's place. I love the lighting they used on that set.)

It's MORE than a little maddening. That's why making icons of a single episode takes me a week to do, because half the time the colouring I use doesn't work the way I want to and I have to find a way through it. And it's why I absolutely HATE YO'S BECAUSE THE LIGHTING THERE SUCKS. Initially, with my older icons, I used a colouring technique that I found somewhere in the depths of coloring_help but I cannot for the life of me find it now. I have the action saved under what I thought was someone's username but it doesn't work when I enter it into LJ. If you want, I could write up that colouring from you and you can use it as a starting point like I did. It worked pretty well on a lot of my older icons but then I had to rework it COMPLETELY for scenes at the lilypad, and then I had to rework it AGAIN when they filmed at the Lakeview. So now the two main colouring techniques I use are pretty much my own doing, and then I add
