Character: Ougi Takaya (Uesugi Kagetora)
Series: Mirage of Blaze
Age: 17

Canon: The Sengoku Period! Beloved of Japanese pop culture for its many heroes, villains, and roughly a billion warring factions. The tale of the unification of Japan never really gets old... it just gets reinterpreted. And Mirage of Blaze would have you believe that the battle never ended at all, it just passed on into the world of the occult. The spirits of the new Dark Sengoku are constantly trying to reclaim a foothold in the land of the living, usually through possession of healthy new bodies. Standing between them and the destruction of modern-day Japan are a small group of spirits who have chosen to walk a more righteous path and become exorcists.

That's the theory, anyway. Actually, 400 years of living is enough to make anyone a little crazy. That's why their leader, Uesugi Kagetora, has chosen to seal off his memories and let his new "self" grow up as an entirely different person: Ougi Takaya. Takaya hasn't exactly turned out well though. He's kind of a punk who prefers riding around town on his motorcycle to staying calmly in classes (or at least he did until it got trashed by another exorcist.) Personality-wise, Takaya's got a rough, blunt exterior, a whole lot of trust issues, and a definite problem with authority. Not to mention an inferiority complex that he hides behind a lot of aggressive posturing. Unfortunately for him he's still got to take part in the resistance, even though at first he doesn't believe that he and Kagetora are the same person. As Takaya begins to come to terms with his his past and his powers, his personality sometimes gains a certain overlay of intelligence, leadership, cool assessment and intractable will when he's under duress, but he never loses his hot-headed and irrational roots.

Sample Post:

Hey, maggot-face!

What, you thought I was gonna stop and chat with you guys for a while? Let you make the first move and chew my brains out or something? Yeah, you probably did, but I’m not like those other chumps who can’t recognize you for what you are. I mean, you're obviously zombies. No offense but the smell alone is making it pretty obvious that you’re a couple of months past your expiration date. Now me, I wouldn't call you much of a threat, but it seems like the people around here don't have that much brain to begin with, so obviously I can't just let you keep going after what they've got. How about I just kick you back out of this world?

Huh. It’s kind of difficult to get your souls to cross over. This must be the so-called benefit of binding your spirit to your own corpse. Yeah, groan and growl all you like. Of course I'm questioning your judgment here, what kind of guy hides in his own body after it's dead? Grow some stones and pass on like you're supposed to! Believe me I get the reluctance, but it's too late to be thinking about that now.

As for myself, I have a better plan. I just don’t intend to die right now, no matter what you throw at me. Gaibaku, spiritual restraint! There, at least now you've stopped squirming. It's no use struggling, I'll hold you until I'm ready to purify your souls. But first, I want to see you all were protecting. There's got to be something good behind you what with the way you all ganged up as soon as I arrived, so what is it? Some kind of deformed zombie queen?

...

Dead should be dead. What's gone should definitely not come back again. It's better for everyone if the past just stays in the past.

--is totally what I'm supposed to be saying right now but, damn, that's my motorcycle, I swear to god! Seriously, you can’t duplicate something like that, a man always knows his machine. I may not always be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but when it comes to bikes there's no way you guys could fool me. It's freaking perfect! How the hell did you do that? I'd heard that this camp had the power of resurrection, but after seeing your rotting faces I figured it was all a lie.

If this is the true strength of Camp Fuck You Die, I'm in a hell of a lot more trouble than I thought.

... so, anybody seen the bike key?
