On Tuesday morning I went into the bathroom at around 8:15am for the usual procedures when suddenly, and without warning, my nose started to bleed. Gushing out. The nose clips I have proved useless. My neighbour had come round to do the things she does - saw me in complete distress with blood all down my t-shirt and called NHS 111. They sent an ambulance team, two paramedics, who couldn't stop the bleed, which lasted for two hours. I was whisked off to A&E at Sussex County hospital. By the time we arrived, and joined a queue of ambulances, the bleed had finally stopped...
I now spent almost five hours awaiting something happening. Two hours in, bloods were taken for a complete tranche of tests. Another three hours and I was eventually seen by the A&E Consultant. Not a lot to add; there wasn't much she could do, apart from offer the usual advice...
I took a taxi home and flopped on the sofa. I was exhausted. At least Riley was pleased to see me.
This was a frightening experience and highlighted the kind of wait one will experience at A&E. Meanwhile I am desperately trying NOT to blow my nose...
