Today after school I walked to Kensington and bought a kilo of sawed-up goat to make curry. Also apples and parsnips and rasins and carrots. Cause curry is what the apostles ate while they waited for the Christ to ressurect. It says so in the gospel of Hassim. Or possibly that's just my nose out of joint because the guest speaker in my policy ( Read more... )

I doubt there is any such thing as the Gospel of Hassim. I was just being snarky, partly because of the jerk in my policy class and partly because the names of the apostles (and usually depictions of them) are pretty westernized in spite of the fact that the whole crew were probably semites. It is possible that I would not feel such bitter disgust for the church if my introduction to it had been thorugh people who were more liberal and less ignorant.

BTW, at some point you posted about somebody's atheist blog...could you send me the link? I'm curious. I'll go reply to the post I'm thinking of.

You know, I think a lot of people would be more impressed with Christianity if so many Christians weren't so ignorant. Looking at the way a lot of people behave, it's easy to get the idea that ignorance and Christianity go hand-in-hand. Really, they're diametrically opposed -- but the problem is that Christians are just as human as anyone else, and some are pretty misguided. As U2's guitarist once said, "I have a problem with a lot of Christians, but I have no problem with Christ." People say and do stupid things that have nothing to do with Christ -- some because they're cynically using God's name for their own agenda, some because they're just misguided -- and it ends up making God look bad. It shouldn't, but I understand why it does.

Speaking of which, I think you'd find some of my friends from church very interesting. Have you met my friend Kirk?
