Why do people keep voting for republicans?

It seems like the general trend is the Bush administration does something. People get upset, congress promises to look into it. The white house refuses to cooperate, and congress just lets it go. Or if Congress pushes the issue, the white house attacks the people responsible in their districts.

Don't you wish they would put partisan politics aside and get to the bottom of - "who gave them the right"? Whether you believe the NSA spying program is right or not, Congress should still have oversight on the program. That's the entire point of checks and balances. Isn't it a little sleezy for the white house to bully fellow republicans into looking the other way and calling anyone who disagrees with them as unpatriotic?
