the one thing is, this is not news - I know you know this, but the only difference with Bush is that he's brazen about it.

Oh, I know. I kept waiting for somebody to interrupt his speech to point out that his admission now menat that he was lying back when he denied the existence of the secret prisons.

But I'm well aware of the repetition in the news, and in my posts. Back when the Abu Ghraib scandal hit I posted the same line from that haunting song. It plays on repeat in my head when this shit goes down.

I can't tell if Bush is lying, or if he believes his words have the mystical power of incantation: if he says the US doesn't torture then it is so.
