She fixes the flowers yet again. Ririchiyo has tried to set the most beautiful table anyone has ever seen, but it's not enough. The footsteps tell her she's too late to do something better, more deserving of the occasion.
"I've been waiting...for you," she stumbles out. Can feel her cheeks burn with embarrassment, thinking of all the things she could improve.
Soushi just smiles in that way which makes her heart beat faster than normal, and his eyes go from the table to her face.
"Everything's as perfect as Ririchiyo-sama, thank you," he says, kissing the back of her palm. And there's the steady beat, beat, beat on her chest. And that is something she's yet to learn, to let go and take things the way they are.
She smiles slowly, little, but smiles nonetheless.
