14th Tactic [phone-- or not]

[phone; call near midnight]Sounds like I'm late to the panic. Are we done yet? No? Okay, listen up, DA in particular, though everyone is certainly welcome to pay attention. We don't know what's going to happen, but if it gets too dangerous to remain scattered, our first fallback point is the high school. It's in a central location. Everyone can get ( Read more... )

[When Peter finally gets to the high school, he sees Caesar, resting idly on a battered folding chair, like the King of the Wasteland on his meager throne. This would strike him as funny, ordinarily, but right now he's in a overwhelming state of WTF so all he does is lift up his bare feet, one at a time, to slap the dust and dirt off of them and then put his hands on his hips, facing Caesar.]

I don't suppose you know where I can find some shoes?

[And a poor king he'd be, in a place like this. Lucky for Peter, this isn't the first time he's shoes have come up in a conversation here. Caesar waves off in the direction of where the gym once was.]

Check the gym lockers over there. They've been blown over, but I did notice clothes and shoes left over from those classes still in them.

[Maybe he should consider actually gathering that stuff, if everyone is going to be wandering around without shoes!]

[Peter blinks. He never actually expected Caesar to have shoes on deck. This guy is clearly someone worth knowing.]

R-really...? Thanks! You are definitely The Man With the Plan, or at the very least A Man With Some Plan.

[He steps over to the lockers and places several shoes next to the soles of his feet, searching for the right shoe size. Luckily for him, he has a common shoe size, and even luckier for him, these lockers belong to high schooles; he'd be out of luck at the elementary school, that's for sure. As he stuffs his grateful feet into a pair of black sneakers, he looks over to Caesar.]

So, are we, like, it? I remember hearing your message about the DA group thingy, but... you know, this happened right afterwards.

I like to think I am.

[The man with a plan syndrome runs in the family, after all. He idly watches Peter dig around for shoes from his seat, then can only shrug when the man returns with his question.]

There have been several others. We can't stay here, so I've been redirecting everyone to a house on Bunker street. An ally there dug out his basement to include a bunker, which gives us more room to work with.

[ Good thing for Millie to know someone on this street because dang. It's not too hard to miss a house going and everything else, the smell waking her up and then everything else keeping her that way. So, Caesar, expect to find a Millie soon enough on that street, who, when she spots him-- ]

C-C-Caesar?? Is that you???

[ Alone, and with no certain pet with her... ]

[In the end, it turns out that Millie ending up in a house on this street was a good thing after all. At least it meant one of the girls weren't lost and wandering aimlessly around this mess.

He turns when he hears his name.]

Millie? [He'll wave her over.] Get over here.

[ She'll be going over to him, wave or not, briskly walking as much as she can over the rubble underneath her feet. ]

W-what's going on, Caesar? What happened? Where is everyone? Where's Bonaparte??

The town decided it was a fine time to level itself. [He kicks a piece of rock, annoyed.] I imagine everyone is scattered right now. Everything I had that was from our world is missing here, so they probably took Bonaparte away, just the same.

So don't go looking for him. He'll be fine.
