So, um. This has taken me way too long to post about, but I went to the New Pornographers show Sunday before last, the 16th. ( Pre-show, where I get lost. )
My opinions were exactly the same as yours on the bands, except I would add that I am afraid of Dan Bejar.
Immaculate Machine were adorable. The guitarist kept throwing his hand up, trying to be all rock star, but it kinda came off as cheerleader. I loved the singer/keyboardist, too.
I meant to tell you last week I have "The Slow Wonder", so if you want to do a trade or anything, let me know.
Hee. I didn't really want to say that, but yeah. Dan Bejar = scary. I was just like, "You've done a lot of drugs, haven't you?" I kind of have a crush on all of Immaculate Machine -- the guitarist was just too cute. He kept doing the hand thing here, too. (I don't usually like redheads, but this show was full of cute ones!) And the singer was just so tiny and adorable.
Darn! I just bought The Slow Wonder off iTunes last night. Thanks for the offer, though!
Damn, I can't believe I missed our traditional "waiting around before the show" phone call! Since I'm forced to carry a work phone now, my other one sits in a drawer most of the time.
You're so lucky to live in a town that draws major acts and yet avoids all the big city woes. I swear, I thought I'd be getting down to LA every weekend for a show, but it's such an incredible hassle and gas prices add about $12 to the total cost. You're definitely having a banner year for live music!
It's so weird. I was like, "Did I get the address wrong again?" But no, there it was, hidden away. It's a really great venue, too. I approve of North Carolina.

Yeah, it was sad. I suggest giving me your work phone number -- I miss talking to you!
Before the end of the year, it'll be five shows this year, I think. That's probably a record for me. Woo!

Isn't it funny that one of the best indie-rock venues in the country is in a mini-mall right next to, like, Domino's?
