Can anyone help me make some video clips?

I'm going to be working on a presentation for next Wednesday on Holmes and I'd like to bring some clips but I have no skills at it. Any suggestions on where I can learn quick?

There's a video clip trimmer called "Solveig" that I have found very easy to use. (freeware)
