The Innocence Mission is wonderful stuff. Someone was kind enough to add their song "Bright As Yellow" on a mix cd for me. I think the backstory is up your alley too, as it's a bit quirky. Seems it's a married couple, living in the isolated wilds of Pennsylvania, who are devout Catholics, and were unable to have a child for a long time. Creepy! But it certainly made for lovely songs...or song, as I've only heard one. ;)

they met during a performance of "godspell" of all things from what i can tell - the housemate has their hymns record which is, well, odd but the reviews have been unanimously great for this so why not. they're from not far from sarah's i think, lancaster

That stars of the lid album is stunning. It's real chunky headphone stuff...I remember taking it like a painkiller round christmas time.
Stoneflower is a great piece of Jobim, but I'd have to go with 'wave' everytime.
