I prefer nice, light teas: Whites, fruits and some herbals. My husband likes a nice strong tea with some bite and body. We chose to order from Adagio because it seemed like they had quite a large selection to choose from in order to try out many different things to see what we each liked, at a price that didn't break the bank.
Hopefully someday we will move on to bigger, better things :)
I hadn't heard before the idea that Adagio was sub-par, but I'd heartily disagree with it.
I'm not a huge fan of their whites, and not a fan of greens in general, but some of their blacks are quite good. (the yunnan was good when I got it, and their irish breakfast has been pretty good every time I get it.)
I do not like their herbals, but I have yet to find herbals that I do like, so maybe that's not just them.
i've tried almost all of those whites and i like them. but then again, they are the only white teas i've ever had. i'd love a rec from an internet based tea company that has better loose leaf teas.
I actually love Adagio. I have tried several of their teas, but none of the ones you mentioned above. The White Grapefruit and Executus Blend sound really yummy, though.
I think what I love most about Adagio is that you can get a small sample size of loose-leaf tea for a reasonable price. I tend to not want to commit to any particular tea unless I've tried it first: Gimme a sample, if I like it I'll order more.
I also like Harney & Sons - they sell a lot of teas in $2 sample-sizes as well. http://www.harney.com/
I once had a sample of White Persian Melon from Golden Moon Teas - but it doesn't appear as if they sell sample sizes anymore, unless you buy a 31-flavor sample set at $19.95 http://www.goldenmoontea.com/Tea_Sample_Sets_C28.cfm
