Tea Source?

Feb 08, 2009 16:59

Does anyone have any good sources to find an excellent white or red Chinese tea? My friend is extremely discerning and is having a probelem finding something that sates his palate ;-)

He also would love to find some good gunpowder.

Thanks :-)

For a good green tea I use Temple of Heaven - Special Gunpowder. Best thing is it's inexpensive, but most all of my friends agree it's a good gunpowder tea.

i agree about Temple of Heaven. Dragonwater carries a nice blend of it.

Upton's, Birdpick in LA and Pasadena, the tea stand in the LA Farmer's Market, Chado in Pasadena, Ten Ren in LA, SF, San Gabriel, etc, etc.

They all have good tea and Ten Ren especially has terrific tea-stings.

O tea, where is thy sting?

Are you looking something online, or in a specific geographic locale?

Red Blossom Tea Company is my source for most of my good Chinese teas. You can also try The Tao of Tea, they tend to have very nice stuff, although often things will be sold out. Note, of course, that what the Chinese refer to as "red" tea is what we Americans know as "black" tea. To further confuse things, what the Chinese call "black" tea is what we know as pu-erh.

Good luck, and happy hunting!
