spicy chais?

Hi everyone! I just joined this community and so happy to be here! I have loved tea for many years, but am now beginning to drink it instead of coffee, so i'm looking for new recommendations. more specifically, I'm looking for a spicy chai. I love chai, but most that I've tried is very mild. i like strong flavors and the more kick, the better. does ( Read more... )

I like Stash Tea's Chai Spice. It's strong but with a fresher and lighter aroma, less heavy than most Chai's. A lot of pre-blended spiced Chai's have a ton of cinnamon and not much of anything else...I usually just make my own...I like to use cardamon and mace (or a dash of nutmeg), maybe allspice, coriander. I tend to avoid cinnamon or use it sparingly.

Sweetener, I either do without, or use honey.

In terms of other strongly flavored teas, I think a real winner is Upton Tea's Chun Mee Dao Ming, for a green tea--that's a very powerful tea but it has a lot of complexity. For black teas, there are a ton of good options and I wouldn't really know where to start.

thank you very much! i love cinnamon, but I agree that it can be very overpowering. I'm definitely going to try making my own, since this thread has given me some great ideas!
