what did we do before we started using the word emo? like, when did it become a standard word to describe a set of people, behavior and feeling? like, "my cat got hurt and now i'm emo", what would i have said five years ago?

Oddly enough, I was just thinking about the same thing the other day. I think I remember first hearing about emo my third of fourth year of college (about 6ish years ago), but then I think it was still used mostly in reference to music. I think I heard people use it like your sentence maybe, yeah, about 5ish years go. Trends like that are weird to try and trace back.

This has nothing to do with your post, but I don't think I have your email address... anyway, are you going to be in Seattle on Sunday (the 5th)? Does your law firm have season tickets for the Seahawks? Assuming the answer to both those questions are yes, if I drive out can we go to the Seahawks-Redskins game?

i might very well be in nova still on the fifth. as for my law firm having season tickets, i assume so but since it's a playoff game i can see not having a chance at them.

Yeah, I probably can't afford to give up a weekend to driving / watching the game, but I figured I still had to ask. What're you doing out in Nova? I thought your parents moved to Pennsylvania or something.

they have a bid in place, but they haven't purchased it yet. i'm here because seattle was getting stressful over the holidays with the increased workloads and i thought i would get away for awhile. i'm doing that working from home business for a couple of weeks, so i figured i would come visit my parents while i was at it.

5 or 6 years ago? Yeah. It wasn't as big a thing, and was just coming into wider use... Before that, dunno.
